Sorry, no April Fool's prank this year.

Too tired.

Too busy.

There's a hidden meaning in that, I'm sure....

You can live vicariously through my pranks if you want. I froze my kids' cereal and milk last night and then laughed like a maniac when they tried to eat it this morning.

It feels like no prank is a prank.

Well, that's kind of saddening I look forward to them every year. There's always next year I suppose.

Boo on you, sir! :)
Apr. 1st, 2014 08:33 pm (UTC)
You're not going to jest about killing a character?
On second thought, nobody would fall for that.

Thank god
Very pleased to hear you, actually, are alive!

You might not have any but there's like 10 with your name attached to them.
One I found rather entertaining is the one where you take over glee, I have to admit I wouldn't mind seeing some of those characters get killed.
There's another that says you have co-writers helping you write your books and another where you burned all the manuscripts to winds of winter haha.

April fools always tries to get us ASOIAF fans rilled up.

Happy April fools

We got tired together?
..I must have been with you today. *Whispers*, why didn't you say my name?*

Happy April Fool's Day.. :)

Busy putting the finishing touches on Winds of Winter maybe???

I take this to mean you are either writing or partying like the master you are. Both of these please me.

Nothing will ever top your joke from a few years ago about A Dance with Dragons being split in to five volumes. I am not proud to admit that one got me, my dad, and his girlfriend! Yeah, we're a bunch of fools in my house.

No worries, you were part of one anyway. There's a Facebook Meme with your death date as today going around. Kinda creepy really.

That's about the fifth time some asshole on the internet has announced my death. I enjoy April Fool's pranks, but that one is as old and unimaginative as it is tasteless.

I think all this "busy thing" is an April's Fool prank. He's lying! The book's finished! Yeeeeah!

George you're the man. Thanks for busting your ass for your work and your fans. Being able to lose one's self in the worlds you've created is a great gift-- I made it through some rough times by diving into your literature. So again, thank you.

Let readers decide who dies
You could have announced that readers can decide who dies next. Or let the highest bidder decide and give the money to charity : )

Good. Yours are too nerve wracking.

You had the power to play the cruelest April Fool's prank... instead, you gave us Mercy!

April fools
You passed up a perfectly good opportunity to give us a June 1st publication date for Winds of Winter, and June 2015 for a Dream of Spring.

Poorly played sir.... Poorly Played....

I'm amazed...
...at how people speak to you. Entitlement, thy name is Gurm fans. Love your books, read the series twice, named my French bulldog puppy "Daenerys", first time reader of your LJ...and my eyes are wide at some of these comments. I'm so sorry. I don't care why you're busy, that's your business, sir.

Hi, George.
I'm writing here because i want to ask you some things about your books. I have seen these associations between your Fantasy World and the real World:

- Westeros Continent = geographically similar to Americas.
- Essos Continent = geographically similar to Europe.
- Sothoryos/Ulthos = maybe geographically similar to Asia/Africa.
- Valyria Empire = Ancient Roman Empire and Valyria (the city) a kind of Ancient Rome.
- Ghiscari Empire = Byzantine Empire.
- Free Cities = similar to the European Kingdoms in the Middle Ages because they fight one against the other.
- Braavos = similar to Venice.
- Fighting pits = similar to Coliseum.

and many other things. Now, maybe it is only my impression, i don't know. So, i wanted to ask you explanations about it, in the good and in the evil :)

ps: I'm sorry for my bad english, and i hope you forgive me because i'm not English or American :)

Re: Question
There are certainly historical and geographical influences on all the places and peoples in Westeros and Essos, but I don't believe in a straight one-for-one derivation. I mix and match and twist.
