Daniel and Ty Make Good

Daniel Abraham.  Ty Franck.  I knew them when.

Looks like GAME OF THRONES and DOCTOR WHO might have some competition for the Short Form Hugo in years to come.

The first trailer for THE EXPANSE is now up on YouTube:

You know, I think those lads might amount to something.

Re: sorry
How can you prefer X to Y when you haven't even seen Y yet?

Re: sorry
The Expanse isn't by George. The story is by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck.

I would like to thank George, however, for turning me on to these authors. :)

The Expanse is the best space opera I've read in many years.

When in 2015?
Really looking forward to this series after I've recently read the first books.
Do you know anything more than "2015" as its release date?

What do you think of the recent Doctor Who seasons, if I may ask, Mr. Martin?

Here and there in the universe a long time from now,
The Flag of Earth will whisper of a planet
Where you could stand naked under a warm sun.
Where you could swim in water that stretched as far as eyes could see,
And walk the very ground that grew your food.
A planet where it rained.
Home.

Ok, this has really caught my attention. I had heard about this show a while ago and thought it sounded somewhat intriguing. Seeing the trailer has made this show a "must see" for me once it starts up.

I admit that I have been a bit soured on Syfy ever since they canceled Farscape* and treated Stargate Atlantis like a second class citizen. They did have the reimagined BSG, though. So that counts for a lot. Still, it's nice to see them finally getting back into having more actual science fiction shows. And not only that, one that takes place in space. More sci-fi, less wrestling and ghost hunting please!

* Yes, I know that's a long time to hold a grudge over something like this but I'm still annoyed with Fox for canceling Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Dollhouse (even if there were clear financial reasons for why all of those decisions were made).

Well that was annoying. Region locked out of Canada. Took me all of five seconds to find another copy of the trailer. Wonder when they'll figure out that the internet is global?

odd trailer...
I am surprised the trailer doesn't focus more on the Leviathan Wakes plot line and that big mystery. Not giving details because it would ruin the book. The trailer focuses on what is more an 'undercurrent' of the first book. Wonder if they are changing this alot from the books.
