Better

ireland
Parris is home from Ireland, hurrah, hurrah. And I'm feeling much better than when I last posted, hardly coughing at all. So all that's good.

Losing a couple weeks to sickness was not good, however. It has put me further behind with everything, and I was already pretty far behind. I have to start thinking about that, or I'll go mad. One day at a time. One page at a time. One word at a time.

June is coming up too fast.

good to hear you're well again!

hmmmm Ireland. I think I'm in love with their music now. especially after hearing "the foggy dew". the mood even reminds me of "A Game of Thrones" and co.
all the more reason to love that particular song.
/randomness

try not to be too stressed. you'll manage to get all your things done, I'm sure.
have a nice day now, and kind regards to Parris.

If you liked The foggy dew have a look at some of the other stuff By the Chieftains. Otherwise 2 other songs I think that fit are: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KsaQPobUZiM or http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=h8o_Tkf6PO0&feature=related Also George's wife was lucky she actual got some decent weather in Ireland(for a change!)

That's great, but I'm sure first and foremost on everyone's mind is: what did you think of your teams' draft? >:)

As a Buckeye, I might be a little biased, but I'm telling you -- Gholston is a beast. Count on him for double-digit sacks year in and year out for at least a decade.

But that 3rd round receiver the G-Men picked up -- he sucks.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

We've waited this long for Dance. A little longer won't hurt. I myself am re-reading all the prior books (this time without newborns!). I can wait as long as needed, just don't impair your health.

Just take the time you need for the book, june be damned! I was also thinking, the longer it takes to finish it, the more reason I have to re-read the whole series (again) before it comes out. I'm actually looking rather forward to having to do that!
(You've spoiled me George. Whenever I read my other favorite authors in the genre now, I always catch myself thinking 'ah nice book. But it's nothing compared to Geore R.R. Martin.. sigh')

allright, that's enough fangirl speak. Just don't be stressed, mister :)

The rereading is a big plus for me. I'm halfway through A Game Of Thrones right now, and I forgot how good it is. It seems that with other kinds of fantasy there isn't as much history in the story, except for those bits that are pertinent to the plot. Reading A Game Of Thrones again, I've realized how thorough Mr. Martin is in his creation of his world.

The last 300 years of the history of Westeros ALONE is established in such depth that it astounds me, and then there is the 12,000 preceding years that have their own history, and all of the lineages. That there are so many families and clans with so many alliances and political connections makes these books seem so real, which is strange for me to say of a fantasy, hehe.

I should spend more time reading the Appendicies and researching the family backgrounds while I'm rereading the series. This way I'll be as prepared as one can be for Dance.

Speaking as one recovering from a long term illness, there is no point getting stressed over something you have no control over (and yes, that hasn't stopped me from being stressed).
Also had times when the next one to say "you have to take this one day at a time" was in danger of being throttled.
Glad you are feeling better.

Re: some of us think
Does that mean she intends to kill Bill with a pig? Or is she going to use a Big Mac instead?

What part of the White House do you think she intends to burn?

So, who IS Chelsea's father anyway?

And, most importantly, how do you think Cersei would look in a pantsuit?

One word at a time.

Like Stephen King said--same way they built the Great Wall (only, y'know, with bricks instead of words). And you can see that $^%#er from space.

Why You Were Sick
You let Tywin Lannister force Jamie to become a boy, instead of the girl* he was supposed to be. For that cruelty of course you got sick.

*That's right, Jamie is sterile. Which means all Cersei's kids were Robert's.

I had that moment of OH SHIT a few days ago when I realized that my own deadlines are fast approaching (D-Day is August 1). But yeah, instead of looking at the whole, break it down into each day, each sentence, each word, and the problem becomes much more manageable.

I hate to put a question to you that considers the long term, Mr. Martin, but once you've completed ADwD, what sort of vacation are you going to give yourself (after the extensive book tour, right? Hehe..)? Surely you are overdue some Giants or Jets games. In between European trips, I suppose.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. The rest of us, however, are sick with anticipation ;)

I'm a longtime fan of yours. I've followed you since the first song of ice and fire. I love your writing and i'm saddened to know that this is the last book in the series. Good to know you're feeling better. Everyone I know either has a cold or has just gotten over one. Well, that's enough rambling from me. Don't get too stressed.
