I would be utterly shocked if even you, architect of Westeros and progenitor of this confusion, have never once stopped and asked yourself something like:

"...Wait...was it Wylis Manderley who died at the Red Wedding? Or was that Wendel?"

Yet Obama can give his March Madness picks. Priorities. *shakes head* Probably thinks Gandalf said, "Live long and prosper, Luke."

No, Gandalf said, "I am your father, Frodo."

re: 2nd best show on TV
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is great, Stephen has mentioned his love for your books more than once and do not even test him on his Tolkien knowledge. On a segment on self driving car, Stephen stated that would be great because he could hang out with his two best friends, Jack Daniels and George RR Martin.

Re: 2nd best show on TV
He's a book reader? I know he watches the show and thought that monologue was part of the script on his monitor. Didn't know he actually read the books too!

Poor Tyrion
Just poor Tyrion. Everyone laughes at him in his life, everyone hates him , and when someone loves him that on ends badly. Really , george that is unfair , you gave Daenerys way too much luck in books , but Tyrion not so much. Daenerys from hiding became queen in less than a decade... tyrion lost his nose , was on a trial for something he never done and everyone still hates him in Westeros. There is something about president liking him , isnt it?

Re: Poor Tyrion
I feel Tyrion has had a lot of luck. He has never gone hungry. He has always had enough money to buy anything and everything.

I just remember the one time he showed concern for the smallfolk. He saw some kids playing and was thinking of helping them. And then a clod of manure exploded on the ground a foot in front of Tyrion's mare. Tyrion's mare reared and almost threw him.
“On second thoughts,” he said when he had the horse in hand, “let the poxy brats splatter on the cobbles like overripe melons.”

I mean seriously. Just because children behaved like children, smallfolk behaved like smallfolk are supposed to, he loses all sympathy for them. Is this the guy you want to be lucky?

We are all Tyrions in our own way. We mourn our problems (dwarfism). But never show the same concern to help others. Oh and when we do something helpful for someone we expect a reward, a pat on the back like Tyrion did.
Let us for once think about the Mycah's and the Penny's and the Groat's and yes the Syrian Refugees, the people who are dying in Lebanon/Paris. Its their luck we should moan. Their only fault is that they are footpads in the game of thrones.

And who deserves to be lucky? Someone who shows true concern for the smallfolk's well being and is ready to sacrifice himself/herself without a desire for a pat on the back.

Stephen Colbert is a god
Good job Stephen Colbert! I mean it's technically Ser Jorah Mormont, but other than that he was spot on. And shame on you President Obama, for claiming to be a big fan of something when you just aren't.

The houses of westeros
Well to be fair there are a lot of characters in your novels but also yet again there are a lot of politicians in this world. Now George where did you get these House names from? What was your inspiration?

If we're nit-picking, Hodor's actual name is Walder... Shame on YOU Mr. Colbert. You're work in Tolkienology is truly breath taking though!

Sometimes it needs some artistic licence.
Would have worked great as a joke, wouldn't it? After all THAT name is mentioned maybe twice in five thick books... Hodor on the other hand...
