Signing, Signing, Signing

I spent a goodly chunk of yesterday afternoon at the Jean Cocteau with pen in hand, signing books.

We'd sold out of our original stock of A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, so we got a hundred more. I scrawled illegibly in all of them. I also signed copies of A GAME OF THRONES, A CLASH OF KINGS, A STORM OF SWORDS, A FEAST FOR CROWS, and A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, all of which are now available from the JCC in hardcover, trade paperback, and mass market. We were down to about three copies of the adult coloring book, so we got more of that one too, and a big stack of FEAST OF ICE AND FIRE, the official Westerosi cookbook. All of these can be found on the Signed Books page of the JCC website.

Of course, we also have a lot of great books in stock by the other writers who have visited us. Here are a few of those:

All these, and many many more titles, can be found at http://www.jeancocteaubooks.com/

Autographed books make great Christmas presents... but to be sure of getting your books by Christmas, it would be wise to order now.

Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Signed - Sold out?
Hi,

When you click buy now on A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, it still says the items have sold out. Will this be updated, or have the signed copies sold out again? I'm trying to get a copy for my brother for Christmas. Thanks :)

I was wondering the same thing. Tried to ask about this myself yesterday, but I think my comment got lost in the shuffle of linking my Facebook to LiveJournal.

Shipping to Canada
On the website, I don't see the option to ship to Canada. Is this something that's being considered for the near future?

Canada
Good evening Mr.Martin,
Do you have any sites currently selling signed copies of "A Game of Thrones" that ship to Canada? I noticed Jean Cocteau Books doesn't ship to us.

Thanks,
Kaitlyn

Letter to Santa
Dear Mr. Santa,

I want you to know I´ve been very good this year. I don´t have too many wishes, just get me one of those autographed books, because the homepage won´t let me order it myself. Even if it´s a long journey across the Atlantic, I´m sure Rudolph and his friends can get you there and back again.
Also, I would like to have "Winds of Winter" for next Christmas, no need for an autograph on this one.

Sincerely,
an ASOIAF fan in Austria

To mix things up, you can always try signing your name in languages that don't use the Latin alphabet. Wikipedia informs me your Chinese name is 喬治·瑞蒙·李察·馬丁, for example.

Good luck with that. And get some rest, good sir. :)

I read the LJ alert in my inbox as "Singing, singing, singing"...I would pay good, good money to hear you sing songs inspired by your books (perhaps stuff like...the songs from the Hobbit cartoon, but having the lyrics changed to portray GoT events. Or classic rock songs that sound particularly like conflicts of the seven kingdoms)

I only sing old TV theme songs. And only when very drunk at cons.

You must have
an enormous number of signed books in circulation. Case in point; I recently purchased a first edition of The Armageddon Rag online and surprise - it ends up being a signed copy. A very nice bonus and addition to my collection of your work.

"Knight..." Sold Out Again Already?
Since I missed out on the initial availability of the signed copies of "Knight..." (they sold out so quickly), I have been checking the theater's site daily waiting for it to be available again, and I just saw that you signed more copies so I quickly went to the site and saw that it still indicates they are sold out. Is this due to the second batch selling out again quickly too, or has the site just not been activated yet? I went to the actual link to purchase and when I attempt to purchase a copy it says they are unavailable.

George, can you please explain to me what I'm missing in the prologue of Feast? After reading the book 6 times I just can't understand what even happened. I feel really stupid as I've always considered myself a pretty clever person.

Re: prologue
I don't know what requires explanation... but in any case, I prefer the text to speak for itself.

You might take your question to Westeros or Tower of the Hand, and let some other readers weigh in.

Really admire how you handle your fans!
I know a lot of your fans can be obsessive and crazy to say the least and I'm not ruling myself out of that lot either because I'm a huge fan of all things A Song Of Ice and Fire related! I think its really cool you have taken the time to respond to my comments on here multiple times as well as make time to sign books for people in person! Keep on keepin' on your Grace! Also enjoyed the Knight of the 7 Kingdoms, had read them a long time ago after I finished A Dance With Dragons and I really enjoyed the story as much if not more just in a different way if that makes sense at all? Love the history you have built into this world and having a story of 2 major figures in Westori History in an "origins" fashion is very cool! Might we see more of these not only of Dunc and Egg but other historical characters in this format? Thanks for your times sorry comment is so long God bless, happy Turkey Day and Go Cowboys! (Yes I'm embarrassed to say the Go Cowboys but I'm Loyal!)

Hello George!

Any word on getting international shipping available again? I would like to have a signed copy of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. I fear that by the time this is resolved there won't be a single copy left. Have you considered doing signing a batch and selling them through your European publisher?

Quick questions
Is there an estimated date on the Tor re-release of ACE IN THE HOLE?

Also... is there any feasibility to the idea of a WILD CARDS art book like the two that ASOIAF has?

Dispute
Mr. RR Martin,

I'm sorry to talk about an off topic subject on your post, but, that's a really important thing to me and I'm sure that you at least read all the comments on your live journal.
I think as everyone else on that page, I happen to be a huge fan of your work, and such as any other fan sometimes I talk about your work a lot with my friends. There is a girl with the most beautiful smile that you can imagine, that I was talking today and we came have situation that only you can give us a real solution...
In a trial by combat between the mountain (GOT) and Touché Turtle ( Hanna Barbera,1962), who would win ?

If you have the time to type me a name and help me make that girl smile that would be a great thing for me...

Thanks for you time and your books,
From your loyal fan that loves/hates you some times,
Jean

I have no knowledge of Touche Turtle.

However, it is well known that Toons Always Win. After all, you can blow them up, flatten then, do all manner of fatal damage, and they just bounce back. Look at Wile Coyote.

Mr. Martin,
I just finished A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I love the book. It sort of took me back to the Harry Potter series being an easy read and hard to put down. It definitely had your touches though :) Good history lay out of the characters before A Game of Thrones. I was hoping to find clues to ASOIF. If there are, you keep them pretty well hidden. Love the special (and lasting) bond between Dunc and Egg.

Favorite books
Hey George,

I was in a book store the other day buying a gift for a relative. While browsing I got to thinking it's almost impossible to sift through the enormous amount of books that come out these days.

So here's my request from you as a pro in the field of "books and stuff":
Can you please write a post listing your few favorite books in each genre (History, fiction, SF etc..) ?

They don't have to be new or recent, just super-extra-must-read-books :)

Thanks a lot.

George doesn't do genre's. He stated multiple times that he thinks fantasy and science fiction are the basically the same thing with different furniture.

Two Questions
Hey George where can I find a signed version of Game of thrones? Also I must ask, In your books many characters have gone missing and are presumed dead. For example Gerion Lannister, Rickon Stark. But you did say in your list of member from Noble houses at the end of the books that the Lannister brother is dead. Are people dead in your series only when we as reader see the death.
