ireland
Here are the dates and details for my appearances in Portugal next month.

July 1 Signing, reading, and Q&A at El Corte Inglés, Lisbon (6.30PM)

This is the major event for fans of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE. I will be talking about the series, reading a bit from A DANCE WITH DRAGONS (in English, alas, I don't speak Portugese), fielding questions, and signing your books.

July 2 Workshop about writing at Fnac do Colombo, Lisbon (7PM)

This event will focus on writing. It's open to all fans but specially interesting to authors and would-be writers. I'll be talking about my own experiences as an author, and answering questions about writing and publishing.

July 5 Roundtable about fantastic fiction at Biblioteca Municipal de Telheiras, Lisbon

A discussion of fantastic fiction in all its forms, from sf to fantasy and horror. Also with a roundtable and questions by the fans.

I look forward to meeting some of my Portugese readers. See you in Lisbon in July!

That shield looks great, even if it should be in gold. :)

*Sigh* It looks lovely, that display. I'm German, but I love both Portugal and your books, so it certainly would be a thrill to combine these two passions and attend, but alas, no leave from work and no money.
I hope your stay in Lisbon will be a good one. Have a bica for me!

Curses! If only I hadn't just started a new job in Norway, I might have been able to fly over there. Oh, well, my trip back to the States in August is going to be horribly expensive as it is.

Does it mean that the dance with dragons is already released? Is it on sale in Canada?

Re: Reply to Just a thought
You realize that this series has a cast of thousands and takes place over many years, right? It's not like a novella that could be written in a matter of days. Give the guy a break...he has been hearing this for years. If you want him to continue producing the fantastic writing we're accustomed to, let him do it on his own time. I would rather wait 5 years for a quality book than 1 year for something rushed and sloppy.

That El Corte Ingles in Lisbon is amazing! It's one of my favorite Corte's in the Spain/Portugal conglomerate. I'm sad I won't be there to get my books signed!

If Portugal
wins the European Championship Football, you are in for one h*ll of a party. Final is played on the 29th of June. Hope for you that you are already in Europe then, just catch any local bar and enjoy. But let's hope they lose the final to the nueva Laranja Mecânica.

A sad fan..
Unfortunately, I’ve started reading Ice and Fire a little too late and I’ve missed your coming to Portugal :\. Are you intending ever to repeat it?
It doesn’t matter here am I because when I start reading your books I am transported to the cold lands of the North or wherever the character is.
Congratulations! It has been a long time since I've read such good, well-written fantasy.
I’m kind of hoping that you will reopen "signed books store" soon…
