Sports are not bringing me a lot of joy this week.

Not only did the Giants and Jets both suffer painful losses over the weekend, but the Mets are got eliminated in the wild card game in baseball. One and done.

Life is meaningless and full of pain.

Too bad for the Mets
They drew the Giants on an even year, and got Bumgarner'd.

As a Minnesota resident, and huge sports fan, I'm familiar with your pain. Gotta keep rooting for them, though! Edit- sorry for the whooping my Vikings put on the Giants. Hope you at least were impressed by our new stadium.

My team is the Pirates (as im from Pittsburgh) and we lost our last playoff game, only just got winning seasons after 20 years of pain, and didnt even make 500 this year. At least you made it to playoffs!

This coming weekend isn't looking too great for your teams either, George. They're running into a couple of meat grinders.

Might be a small consolation, but there's always a silver lining: the Pats also got obliterated to 16-0. At home, no less. By the Bills, no less.

Ugh, I almost had that out of my memory.

There is nothing like sport to bring out the Nihilist in all of us.

Ah, the Mets. I'm the outlier in my family in that I'm not a sports fan, but most of my family are Mets fans, very strong Mets fans. And they always say that being a Mets fan is to know the true agony and ecstasy of sport.

That's kind of how we feel after reading Ned Stark's execution or the Red Wedding, though that's arguably more like "meaningful and full of pain".

As a lifelong Giants fan I was pleased last night , but it was a classic playoff game, and an outstanding pitching duel. Thor did more than hold his own!

Do you think it's time for us to bring out Geno or Petty?
Oct. 7th, 2016 07:24 pm (UTC)
Eventually the Jets will need to see what Petty and Hack can do.

Geno had his chances, however. Plenty of them. He's not the answer.

could be worse, you could be a Browns fan

This is what us Miami fans have been feeling for years.  :(

Same Story
I had a weekend like that 2 weekends ago, my Tigers needed to win out to make the Wild Card and lost their last 2 games, missing narrowly.

Then the MSU Spartans lost a devestating loss to Indiana shattering their hopes at repeating as Big Ten champs.

And to follow that the Lions lost to an extremely beatable Bears team, showing what kind of season they intend on having.

Life is meaningless and full of pain, but still it goes on. Seven blessings to you and yours, Mr. GRRM.
