I Hate Football

The Giants lost a heartbreaker of a game to the Iggles down Philly way. With the playoffs in sight, suddenly Eli starts throwing INTs right and left and the wideouts start dropping every other pass.

And then today the Jets got totally crushed, eviscerated, and humiliated by Evil Little Bill, Tom the Deflator, and the Patriots (and their newest wideout, straight from an Arizona jail). It was not just a loss, it was an embarassment. The coach made the game, after being hospitalized yesterday, but the team did not show up.

I hates me some football.

Life is meaningless and full of pain.

Christmas, you say? Santa, you say? No, no, that's Nackles you hear.

Patriots Giants Superbowl 3.0
Whats your pick? Do you think the Giants go 3 - 0 if it happens?

No fair, George
Calling Tom a Deflator means to have 0 knowledge of basic science or being an absurd little piece of crap and absolutely biased like Roger Goodell.

Football Blues
George, you too have my sympathy, but I grew up near Chicago, and believe we will never have a winning team again unless we trade the owners -and who would take them? I worked with a lady who went to school with some of the Halas family and she told me many in the old neighborhood truly believed the McKaskeys knocked off Mugs Halas so they could get control of the team -who knows? It's as good a plot as any other...Bah Humbug to football! Plan B? Alcohol! Don't worry, no one's driving.

Reffing??
The Giants game was a complete heartbreaker. I'm crossing my fingers we'll get at least one playoff game this year. What was your thought on some of the calls the refs made? (Especially that roughing the passer and that non-call on pass interference at the end)

The refs totally sucked in the Giants game.

Re: Reffing??
Eagles fan here. First, haha Giants suck! Second, the refs have been awful across the league. I've seen my team get screwed by bad calls over the years, as I'm sure we all have, but none more so than this year. That was indeed a PI non-call which helped us out, but I can point to a few bad calls that went the Giants' way. How about the roughing the kicker non-call in our first match up, I believe Landon Collins -- who everyone has been praising this year -- was the culprit. What happened to the Bills in Seattle a few months ago was atrocious. Something needs to be done about the reffing.

Sorry George, but it was kinda nice to see the rivals not celebrating on our turf for once. One bleak highlight in a truly shitastic season :P

I imagine your Christmas just got a lot merrier with the Saints victory, which clinched a wild-card spot for the Giants despite Eli's questionable performance!

Saints fan here, aaaand you're welcome!

Now two things for us in return:
1. Crush the Falcons if they come across your path in the playoffs
2. Foil evil Bill and his apprentice again if you both make the Superbowl.

Vikings fan here and I used to call us the Cubs of NFL. Until the Cubs won. 5-0 brought hope but there was always that hovering reality of mediocrity. *sigh* Maybe we should have built that new stadium outdoors.

Take Guy Kay's offer up on fantasy football next year, George! Motley lot of SFF authors, editors, and such who love NFL. Not many of us SFF/NFL crossovers out there. Beat GGK in the playoffs for a bottle of scotch, but lost last week to another author. Was hoping the magic of Bilal Powell would last through playoffs. Alas, no.

Actually, you SHOULD have put the new stadium outdoors. I am old enough to remember the Bud Grant days, and the looks on the faces of teams from California and Florida when they trotted on the field at old Metropolitan Stadium as the freezing wind howled around them.

The Packers have a big edge at Lambeau. The Vikes gave us theirs when they moved indoors.

Exactly! (My FF team name is Bud Grant's Garage Sale, btw.)

Vikings lost their way several years back by focusing on slinging the ball. Maybe they'll address the front line and give this Defense another year to mature. We'll see if Bridgewater is the answer after (hopefully) addressing the O-line.

Built a level of respect for Jets during the Curtis Martin days. Thought they really had something to build on with Fitzpatrick after last year. Seems the Defense stepped back and the magic might have left the QB position after the 1-year contract was signed. Leonard Williams was a bright spot - hopefully he can anchor things for the D in 2017.

At least the G-Men have a better chance of making the playoffs than the hapless Saints do...even though they beat the Bucs today, there's too much happening to go their way to even make it as a wild card. (The win also alllowee the hated Falcons to clinch their division, with the Panthers out of the playoff picture.)

That being said; the G-Men definitely got a raw deal.

Help wanted:. QB. Phil Simms looks healthy!
Ky boy here just like Phil Simms. That game wasn't quite Phil and Randall Cunningham squaring off back in the day, but at least your Giants are better than my iggles. Give my right arm for ODB but as it looks now I have some tough years ahead. Best of luck to your G-Men (even if they can't solve the enigma that is the iggles). How they seem to have the Giants number lately I will never know. Happy Holidays and best wishes!

I smile forms and condolences,
I really like the Giants. They are a Class A organization. I express great sadness for you.

I also have my Packers though, who're starting to develop a shine. I guess I'll be mixed with my emotions. However, I cannot tell you how hyped I am for my Packers and Week 17. Rodgers has beenhaving a special year.

I enjoyed it!
False Start- Everyone but the Center!

It is interesting though that Patriot missiles are anti-aircraft, so you could say that they are designed to take down Jets! ;)

I keep telling you that the best way to make the Jets relevant again is to finish ASoIaF! Until you do my Patriots will continue to ROFLstomp the AFC. Although, you can have them beat in the Superbowl by the Giants for each new ASoIaF book you release!

On the bright side, the Giants are officially in the playoffs with help from the Saints today. Eli has one relatively meaningless regular season game to get it right before the playoffs.

Gee George what's not to like? Giants clinched a wild-card spot despite a loss. Jets did their best to improve their draft pick while Browns and 49'ers did their best to ruin theirs. And finally The Pats showed you some great defensive (and offensive) football, which you love so much!

Merry xmas. I would love to read Winds in the new year.

100% concur
As a Seahawks fan, I can't agree more. It seems like every time we manage to start pulling ourselves together again, we simply can't help but lose a completely stupid game. And now we're doing it at home. There goes our undefeated home season. To the Cardinals. And with it, in all likelihood, our first-round bye.

Honestly, with how erratically we're playing this season, I can't say I'm positive we truly deserve our playoff berth. When we're on, we can be REALLY on... but most of our wins didn't have us on, so much as managing to stagger about just far enough ahead of our opponent not to lose. And when we're off... well... we can't beat the Cardinals. Or the Rams, early in the season. There is seriously no excuse.

Jets had already
given up the week before. Question is how did it come to this? As for the giants? karma for deflating the 2 steelers balls or because of walkietalkie-gate? going to be interesting how they do in the playoffs.
