Tor Launches Wild Cards Reread

All you Wild Cards fans old and new... and you future fans as well, who have yet to give the series a try... should head on over to Tor.com, where they will be launching a Wild Cards Reread program on March 1.

Tor has done a number of these rereads of popular series. You can find them all there in their archives. The way it works, a fan of the works in question rereads them, book by book and story by story, and posts their observations, and everyone else chimes in.

It's always fun, and often illuminating as well.

Katy Rask will be leading the reread for Wild Cards, and who better?

So get to reading! The first of March is almost here.

Reading High Stakes
Thank you for editing the series. High Stakes ranks among the best because the explanation of the arc was completely unexpected and the sense of urgency is so well written.

Btw this post could not happen at a better time for me : I am right now reading the prison break segment of the book. I live in Brussels, so I must praise the accuracy of the Saint-Gilles prison description. Was there a on-site location scouting ?

hi there george!

I hope you don't see this as me complaining or whining. I'm simply curious to when you think you will publish WoW. Just wondering so i can prepare myself and go on a re-reading spree before it's released :-) but DO take your time. If it means taking another year for that book to end up a masterpiece, I will wait patiently, I promise.

Wild Trump
I just picked up the first Wild Cards and I'm super excited to see what is in store. Also, we all completely understand if it takes four more years to write tWoW. It's hard to sleep at night with this racist/clown/idiot in office. :(

Reading
Mr. Martin,
I know this isn't exactly Wild Cards relevant, but I was curious if you had an opinion on the First Law series. I was looking for some reading material and stumbled across that.

Thanks!
Thanks George!

I never go over to the tor site so I never would've known about this otherwise. Thanks a bunch for posting it on your blog. I've been meaning to for awhile now so I guess there's no better time than now.

Anytime I'm going to re-read the first one I immediately get excited for Degradation Rites. Man, did she knock that one out of the park or what? It's by far my favorite story from the first Wild Cards.

Out of curiosity, what's your favorite in that one?

RE: Thanks!
That's like asking a father who his favorite child is. But there are some amazing stories in there. "Witness" was a Nebula finalist, the Zelazny gave us Croyd, the Waldropbroke our hearts... and i had a story in there too.

Listening to the audiobook for Wild Cards Volume 1 tonight while I work. If I like it, I'll keep going until I run out of Wild Cards audiobooks. It's right alongside a number of other SF audiobooks I have on my iPod that I've always wanted to read and haven't, like Zelazny's LORD OF LIGHT.

You ever listen to audiobooks, George? I prefer reading an actual book, and I would guess so do you, but there's an immense advantage in being able to take in the contents of a book while also being able to do other things. It makes work go by much faster, if you have the kind of job that allows for it.

GRRM...
This is off topic.

I have read the song of ice and fire books. Listened to the song of ice and fire audiobooks. I am just about through my reread of the song of ice and fire books.

I just discovered the song of ice and fire wiki. So interesting.

Mr. Martin, sir, you are truly a great author. The depth of the series is remarkable! So good.
