Star Trek Made Me Sick

Literally. I have a cough that won't stop, and a chest that's so congested it feels like it's made of concrete. And the phlegm...

And the only time I've left the house and computer for weeks was to see that wretched Trek film, so I am blaming Kirk, Spock, and J.J. Abrams.

If I die of swine flu, you know who to hold responsible,

I'm sorry to read that you're sick.

I take it that you didn't like the movie for other reasons?

as a resident of Texas (and the only state I know so far to have had a death from Swine Flu), I'd like to say that so far, the Swine Flu hasn't been nearly as bad or deadly as they thought it would be. Therefore, if you DID catch it at Star Trek, you will probably survive. ;p

And by probably, I mean you WILL survive, 'cause I'm not going to go on in life without knowing how A Song of Ice and Fire ends!!

by the way, I hope you feel better soon. <3

Get well wishes from Houston.....

I hope you feel better soon (and that you see a doctor)!

Also, if Star Trek winds up having killed you, know that in your wake will be a fandom jihad not seen since the Deep Space 9 vs. Babylon 5 battles of the 1990s, as we rise up to smite your slayers!

THAT is an awesome comment.

Just thinking of going to see that movie made me a little sick at my stomach. But I suppose it's just that I hate sci-fi, and not that it's given me a terrible disease. :)

Please go see a doc to rule out early stages of pneumonia. Better to find out it's a false alarm now than to get a full-blown case diagnosed later.

Swine Flu In Space... that'd make an interesting movie.

If your showing had that trailer for Year One with it, we may have another suspect here...

(Seriously, though, do rest up and feel better!)

That statement is highly illogical!

No Worries...
I think that you probably have enough followers now to qualify for low-level godhood. I'm pretty sure that grants you immunity to the swine flu.

I went to see it, nailed my girlfriend for a few hours after wards, and then we went to see it again. And I'm seeing it again tonight!

I loved that film.

Hope you feel better soon.

I wonder if the illness would have been correspondingly bad if the movie had been THE FINAL FRONTIER instead?

* shudder in horror *

It could have been worse. It could have been Star Trek: The Motion Picture

PC flu name
Remember it's not swine flu... it's HP1A2ZrRrICKx2A flu. Something like that, so more nations won't start killing their innocent pigs.

Hmm, just imagine some of the names that it thankfully wasn't called.

I hope that it's nothing serious and that you'll soon feel better.

(If it is the porcine plague this may be the best time to get it. They're still giving sufferers a lot of tender loving care - and getting it now avoids the rush in the autumn if it does come back in a worse form.)
May. 12th, 2009 08:44 pm (UTC)
Wow, I hope you feel better soon!
May. 12th, 2009 08:50 pm (UTC)
Ah, that's just the summer cold going around. I've had it for a week now and it's finally going away. The third day is the worst.

George, you need some cough syrup that's got the hydrocodone in it. Here in tn, the street name is "leen" Get you some of that shit...you'll thank me later
May. 12th, 2009 08:54 pm (UTC)
Oh, I hope you feel better soon! Take care of yourself!
On a side note, I liked the movie a lot...but I'm definitely NOT a Trek fan. I saw a couple of the movies I think, but I remember not liking them- especially the one with the whales for some reason. But I was just a kid then. I think the only Star Trek I watched was Next Gen because I had a huge celeb-crush on Wil Wheaton (still kinda do, LOL).
While other kids my age were watching cartoons over and over, I watched "Stand By Me."

Nothing good can come from a Hollywoodesque remake =_=
Take care, Mr Martin!

Rest assured I have numerous ulterior motives when I say, "Get Well Soon George!"

It may be the starting stages of Andorian Shingles...are your eyes bleeding?
May. 12th, 2009 09:26 pm (UTC)
Are you running a fever?
Live long and perspire.

Sounds a lot like Mickey's Death Flu that I came home from Florida with. It took over a week for me to start feeling something close to normal again.

Rest up and drink lots of tea. It was the only thing that marginally made me feel better, outside of taking about 5 different types of drugs which I had to use to prop myself up when I didn't feel right calling into work any longer...
