feeling feisty

  • May. 17th, 2009 at 11:49 PM
Spain
Much improved these last two days. I've even been writing well.

But damn, even a few days of being laid low puts me so far behind...

My life and career have developed a frightening momentum. I remember once, when I was out in Hollywood, someone described working on a weekly television series as being akin to madly laying rails as the locomotive roars full steam up the tracks just behind you. I'm not in Hollywood anymore, but life still feels like that some days. Lose a day here and a week there, and suddenly that damn train is rolling over you.

I disagree. Giving up is sometimes the best you can ever desire.

Even though, I'm glad to see that you're feeling better! That's the most important thing, isn't it? :)

Take care~~

I've tried to explain this state of being to family members for years, but never with great success. A world without paid sick leave is a strange world for many people.

I have paid sick leave and still understand it. When your work isn't easy to pass on, it's all there, piling into a giant work mountain for when you get back. Same with vacation...lots and lots of vacation time, but no time it's safe to *use* it.

I'm glad you're feeling better, I hope you don't let the TV show get to you and stress you out.

I can relate to that! I'm glad to hear your health is improving. Don't stress yourself about what you can't do when you aren't feeling well. When you recover you will be able to tackle it better. Best Wishes.

Cheer up... if there was a train it would've run over you two years ago. ;-)

I've just started re-reading Songs of Fire and Ice and I cannot help but see Robert as Brian Blessed.

I'm stuck in my senior year of college, and I know this feeling well, even if it is over academic papers and honors theses, rather than novels. I wish you luck with the writing, sir!

Glad you are recuperating. Shall we bribe the engineer to throttle down for a bit?

Deep breath... exhale.

Go through the list of Things To Do one step at a time.

We'll be waiting. Your health comes first.

Oh and who do we send the dynamite to so we can blow up the train?

No doubt. I saw some article about ASoIaF video games the other day. Video games, HBO show, calendars, miniatures, swords, regular editor projects, comics, short stories, and novels.

I don't know how it all gets done.

You remind that damn train that it wouldn't exist without you. Deadlines are sort of a fiction, aren't they? I mean, it's not like they're going to refuse to publish your work if it's late, or like the fans won't read it whenever it hits the shelves, right? Take a deep breath and keep on chanting "genius cannot be rushed".

I would say there's light at the end of the tunnel, but due to the economic downturn, the light has been turned off. That is all.

Reminds me of the chase scene from one of the Wallace and Gromit films...

Best of luck getting back on track! :D

Neil Gaiman
I'm not sure if you saw this, Neils respond to one of your impatient 'fans' waiting for updates on the fire and ice series.

I think Neils comment sums it up, how I can imagine you might have it with this.

Cheers and thanks for an excellent story so far.

Am I the only one getting a Wallace and Gromit flashback here?

Regardless, glad you're feeling better.

Look on the bright side! At least Star Trek didn't do any lasting damage to you!
