Very exciting. Must have been an honor to work on it. What was the most rewarding aspect of the project in your mind?

Ahh, Kidd's brilliant. Love the ink work on that image. Does each story get an illustration?

Hey Mr. Martin
Mr. Martin,

I'm a long-time fan of yours. I started reading AGoT back when I was 15...and I'm getting my law degree next year!

I don't know if you're aware, but Finish The Book, George, has an open invitation to conduct an interview with you regarding some of the displeasure you've had with several of your critics. They're really good people and have (like you) a great sense of humor.

You can find their invitation here: http://grrrm.livejournal.com/20222.html

I think that you're an intelligent man and can handle your own. What better way to show your genius than to out-smart some of your critics that have developed an enormous fanbase...BASED ON YOUR SUCCESS!!!???

By the way, I sent you an email 6 years ago and you haven't gotten back to me.

Re: Hey Mr. Martin
I'm still working on the emails from eight years ago.

Re: Hey Mr. Martin
'Great sense of humour'? I think not. In between the hate, venom and insults levelled at anyone who tries to contradict their view of the circumstances, they occasionally circle around making something that could be the beginnings of an interesting point, but then back away from that to take some more cheap shots instead.

Re: Hey Mr. Martin
I agree with Werthead, their blog isn't funny, and is in poor taste.

Re: Hey Mr. Martin
Incredible! Those people are ridiculous. I have known 2-3 year olds who cry and complain less.

Two thoughts really stand out after reading that page.

1) Mr Martin spends his spare time engaging in activities that he enjoys.

2) Those people spend their spare time whining about Mr Martin's engaging in activities that he enjoys.

LOL. If I were them then I'd be trying to obscure that fact rather than calling attention to it.

If you are annoying people like that then you must be doing something right!

Re: Hey Mr. Martin
George built a massive world. It takes time to make these things. They don't come off a tree you know. And BTW, you are a very rude person.

Excellent. Lucius Shepherd's story that was sent out in the Sub Press newsletter was very good, and I'm quite interested to see what the other authors have brought to the project.

Good god. I just read some of FTBG. If I was George, I just wouldn't finish the book at all. What a bag of dicks.

Hey
I mean...I absolutely worship ASoFaI, really. I mean, the Feast was great without 2/3 of the best characters (Sorry Mr. Martin, it's true. Give me Tyrion any day of the week). You can't make a novel with such subtle intricacies as ASoFaI WITHOUT being an Artist (capital A).

However, FTBG is HILARIOUS and RIDICULOUS for its own reasons, even set apart from the reason that they initiated the blog. The two brothers that do it have a following not because of their analysis, but because of their...ARTISTRY! (Not making a comparison to the same artistic ability that it takes to make ASoIaF!!)

I just thought it would be awesome to see THE AUTHOR give a candid interview with two Critics, probably the most notable and vocal. Mr. Martin is OF THE PEOPLE, not Above the people, and he would give as much as he got. Ty would prep him :)

By the way, I'll be in Ireland during the filming of the mini-series, when is Mr. Martin going to be there? Is it tacky to ask for an autograph at a pub?

Really?
To those doubting Dance will come out at all:

You guys really think HBO would invest in ASoIaF if there weren't demonstrable progress on the next installment in the series? I can't see there lawyers not bringing it up before anything was greenlit. I could be wrong, but I would find it hard to believe. There's a wealth of literature out there that awaits you, go explore. Or play xbox. Or play catch. Then, be pleasantly surprised when the release is announced. Insert cliche about how there are more important things and life's too short and all that and lighten up!

Sorry for the lame username, they are all taken!

There is a lot of good reading out there. If you like epic fantasy there is Steve Erikson's Tale of the Malazan. This guy cranks out a 800 page book every damn year! He is a machine when it comes to writing! I love his characters and settings, complex and riveting. Well paced and directioned.

I can't wait for Dance of Dragons! And I know it will be worth the wait alright. The series is awesome.
