Farewell to Finland

  • Jul. 15th, 2009 at 7:45 PM
Spain
We're back in Helsinki for one last night. Tomorrow at the crack of dawn (which cracks very very early here in Finland) we're off again. Parris returns to Ireland, and I head home to the cats, the green chile, and A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. We'll meet again in Montreal. Ah, the jet set life...

Estonia was great, and Turku was fun as well. I hope to write more about all these places once I'm home.

Thanks for all my Finnish friends, new and old, for making this is awonderful trip. Finncon rocks.

Thank you for coming - it certainly was wonderful to meet you in Finncon and to have dinner with you and Parris yesterday! I hope you had a good time on your mini-tour of Turku.

I'm looking forward to perhaps meeting you again in a Worldcon somewhere - probably not in Finland, though. :)

Finland, Finland, Finland, the country where I quite want to be. Your mountains so lofty, your treetops so tall...

What mountains? There are no mountains....we have tunturi, but those could be translated as a hill. =D

Having just moved to Ottawa from Montreal, I'm now sad that I'll miss you being there! Poop.

If you want recommendations for nice places for food/drinks/coffee, hit me up. I lived there for ten years and know them ALL.

Though Ottawa has some good stuff too :)

Montreal awaits you sire!

With arms open and accents aplenty :¬) You will have a taste of our continental-europeanish welcomness...

In short, I’m hoping to meet you in a few weeks time...

Montreal?!?
I just read that you will be in Montreal. How exciting! However, the link to the convention does not mention your name (probably the guest list is not finalized). I would like to know if you will be there for the whole convention and precisely what day or time we can meet you. Thanks - a long-time fan!

Re: Montreal?!?
Wow. I've been trying to decide if I should go to Montreal where there is a Harley I want to buy. With this George appearance coming to light it adds a whole new factor to concider. I gotta go! A Harley and a chance to meet GRRM! Sounds like a trip to me!

Well done!
I don't know how you guys do all the long flights and cracks of dawn and interviews and signings and photos! Im wreched after one day of bus journeys and a few hours drama and dance with kids. Once or twice a week is about as much as I can do at the mo!

Hope you enjoy your last night together before we steal Phipps away again.

Big Love an a Bear Hug to you george, and Phipps: see you soon!

Green Chile? Is it hot, spicy or mild? Is there a recipe?

Words (even George's I bet) can't adequately describe green chili, made correctly. Yum. You need to visit northern New Mexico.

Hatch
The best green chile coms from Hatch, in southern New Mexico.

I get choked up just thinking of it...

Have a safe trip!

Green chile - I miss that living here in WA. Though, a new restaurant opened a few months ago in my little town and they get their chile straight from Hatch.

Green Chili
I feel cheesey even writing this comment, since I rarely comment or ask questions on blogs at all. But, I have to know since I'm going to Santa Fe with a friend inthree weeks: Where is the best place, frequented by locals, for green chili and other yummy Mexican food in Santa Fe? Hope this isn't too obnoxiously opportunistic, but you're the only Santa Fe resident I can ask! LOL
Glad your adventures continue to be good ones, and your travels safe!Amanda

New Mexico Green Chile
I lived in Jemez Springs for years but now am living in Honolulu. I loved the scenic beauty of New Mexico but what I miss most is GREEN CHILE! They only have sad canned chiles here...sigh.

A real tragedy, I know. But hey, I live in Hawaii.

Welcome back and enjoy the chile for those of us who cannot.

Re: New Mexico Green Chile
If you go to www.madeinnewmexico.com, you can order all sorts of New Mexico food and decorations, and stuff. They have bags of dried chilis, and lots of other great stuff, so maybe you could get some and make your own chili!!! I bought a bunch of their stuff for friends and for my boyfriend a couple of years ago for Christmas; they were all thrilled to have the real deal in their kitchens! Real dried Hatch chilis! They thought they were in heaven! Still, it's going to be great to go to NM in a couple of weeks and eat food right there! HTH

I'm glad you had fun in Finland! What's the story with the green chile?

Hmm, also, do you have any more beans you'd like to spill? There's a particular "Bean" that a lot of us have been wondering about...
