HBO Pilot

froggy
Hiya, kids, hiya, hiya, hiya.

I know some cool stuff.

You don't.

And I can't tell you yet.

(Yes, I am a monster of inhuman cruelty).

Well, maybe I'll let slip a few things at the Montreal worldcon. Or maybe not. You'll have to ply me with booze and plunk my magic twanger, and we'll see.

Off on Tuesday...

There is something sinister about that frog. I believe you're planning mischief, and great deals thereof.

Now, if only getting from Sweden to Montreal was cheap....

You might be interested to know that The Armageddon Rag works perfectly well for a reader who assumes that all the US popular culture stuff is science fiction.

Because my reaction to this post was "Wait, Froggy the Gremlin is real?"

Mischievous little leprechaun! Haha. I will take a guess: Ron Perlman as the Hound? I deduce this is one addition to the cast that would fill you with such infinite glee.

I think you just enjoy this kind of cruel taunting. Shame! Can't you at least give us a date when you are able to release your info? :)

Please recast. no Mark Addy as King Baratheon as 73% of people on the web is very angry and disappointed about this insane choice.
There are many good actors closer that characters talking about physical performance too.
HBO is American, how many do American actors be fine for that? a lot, many lot.
Sorry, Mark Addy he doesn't fit for that role, definitely.
(Besides I don't really know how he'll be on that set in October if he'll play an other movie by August for three months...mysteries...).

Mark Addy will be great in the role. He does have the look (just see the roles he's played where his character had a full beard - dead on older, fatter Robert. Also, he has the voice for it - a deep timbre that carries. A 'lord's voice' as George describes it a few times in the book. Also, he has played more serious roles and he has played them very well.

Everyone thought Coppola was insane to cast Marlon Brando as Don Corleone because up until that point, Brando only played younger, sex-symbol roles. After Godfather came out, nobody could imagine Brando in any other role. Now, it's unlikely Addy will have the chance in the role of Robert to make quite that level of an impression, but I will not be at all surprised if he changes a lot of perceptions about what kinds of roles he should play. Comedians often make the best actors for serious roles.

Does anyone mind telling this poor innocent soul what exactly 'plunk' means? I was under the impression that plunk is the sound a rock makes when it hits water...I'm guessing I'm mistaken

This is bothering me more than the HBO stuff

Froggy the Gremlin and his magic twanger, for those wanting the source.

The dictionary says "plunk" is indeed able to be used to mean plucking and twanging and instrument. :)

The comments here mean you're going to be very drunk in Montreal, Mr George Revealingly & Rottenly Mischievous. You should clarify on the booze issue, though. Booze IS important, as opposed to TV. And since so many anagrams were made in connection with your post, can you at least give people some relevant letters to have fun with?

Hey, the fact that it's about the pilot and seems to be good news leaves me pleased. The rest is just details!

Huh. People are mad about Mark Addy. Who? I think he's perfect for the part. Really looks almost exactly how I pictured him (all pudgey and bloated with too much drink and way too much soft living) and he's a good actor on top of it.

We all new that our favorite author had a cruel streak so this is no news. =)

Who else kills off all his characters with such enthusiasm?

I'm going to guess the news is that Jennifer Ehle has been cast as Cat Stark?

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3icaec2feffc977edcd7939413cf46b0d9

Ehle is a very fine actress indeed. I'm very impressed by this bit of casting, possibly moreso than Sean Bean's :-)

(she was Elizabeth Bennett in the BBC's PRIDE & PREJUDICE, the one with Colin Firth, for those who don't know the name)

Oh cool!
I like her a lot. She's more of a cuddly little thing than I imagined Catelyn Stark to be, but I have an open mind.

Mark Addy=King Baratheon
I am Mark Addy fan. I am so happy to read he is in this fantasy production. He is such lovable man with strong talent. I am sure he will be great as he always did in all of his works.
Actually I admit I will laugh a bit watching him with long black hair, just he is losing his one...oopsss! sorry Mark no offense :p
I saw him in T***o ads pushing a car up the road (imao) he lost few weight lately.
I want to see Mark fight on the ground.
Just a word to who said Mark is not adapted to play King Baratheon.....SHUT UP!
Mark born in theatre he knows who he is he knows what to do.
Thanks to Mr Martin for this choice which is a great one.
