Scooped

hiya hiya hiya
Well, the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER has spoiled part of my fun. How can I properly torment my readers if they're going to go around printing the news?

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3icaec2feffc977edcd7939413cf46b0d9

Yes, it's true. Jennifer Ehle has been cast as Catelyn Stark.

Most of you will know her best from her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in the BBC's miniseries of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE in 1995, but she's got all sorts of other credits, she's won a BAFTA Award and two Tonys, and she will be a wonderful Catelyn.

Fortunately, even HOLLYWOOD REPORTER doesn't know all the cool stuff I know, so I will still be able to smile engimatically and drop sly hints in Montreal.

(I'll be good, I will, I will).

I'm off tomorrow. See you there.

I can't begin to imagine how cool and exciting all of this must be for you. It's as if Tolkien had gotten to see the LOTR series of movie. Your masterpiece will have much more of an impact on mainstream western culture than it already has.

Oooh, OUCH! Let's hope HBO does a significantly better job than the people who did the LOTR movies.

Imaginary Conversation
Producer 1: "What about all of that... you know... history, and philosophy, that's kinda essential to Tolkien's vision? I mean, we ARE filling something like a dozen hours here, anyway..."

Producer 2: "Naaaah. That shit's DRY! You want to fill more time, flesh things out? More CGI fight scenes! Yeah!"

I don't know her, but from the first picture alone, she looks incredibly perfect! The casting that I know of so far seems to have been done carefully and with such perfect precision.

She looks fabulous! The good news from this production just keeps rolling in!

Quoth GRRM: "(I'll be good, I will, I will)"

Quoth me in reply: Well, I suppose there's a first time for everything. ;-)

I've never heard of her, but she certainly looks the part. Sounds like she's got some acting chops as well. Seems like another great choice

Sean Bean is playing Ned? that's awesome! he is one of the most underrated actors that i know of. it is a shame that he won't be in more of the series. he is such an underrated actor.

I saw her as Lady Macbeth a few years ago - not a bad lead-in to Catelyn! :-P I was thinking Molly Parker, personally, because I have the same vague antipathy towards Alma Garrett that I do towards Catelyn, but Jennifer Ehle will be brilliant.

Someone or some group seems to be doing a great job getting a quality cast.

Wonder what kind of dogs are going to be used... or will they be computer generated?

I was wondering that myself. I would think that with how massive the wolves get, they'll need to be CG'd. (At least once they reach a certain size, anyway.)

Wow - I am new to ASoIaF, but after reading the first book as a random reference from a friend, I was quickly obsessed and just finished A Feast for Crows-- I am SOOO excited about the HBO pilot! It will TOTALLY be worth the extra money per month, I bet HBO's membership doubles when the pilot airs ;)

That's fantastic news! I was so desperately hoping that you'd get someone brilliant for Catelyn, and she is, and you did, and I'm completely over-excited now!

I've been Jennifer's fan since I first watched P&P! I can't wait to see her in this.

Great casting all around so far!

GREAT choice. One of the most talented and under-appreciated actresses around. Beautiful, sexy, and strong. Will play a GREAT Catelyn.

Good job.

Well... while I'm against this whole thing for the most part, I
have to admit at least this casting selection, for Catelyn, is
acceptable. ^-^'

Jolly good and all that jazz. ;)

Excellent!
This is wonderful news! :-) I absolutely love the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and thought Ehle was brilliant as Elizabeth. She can really do so much with little glances and changes of expression.

I really didn't see this casting decision coming - I never even thought of her for this part - but now that it's been revealed I think it's perfect. So far, the casting has been amazing! :-D Looking forward to whatever other information you may choose to reveal (or even hint at)... ;-)
