Arya and Sansa, Revisited

Here, as promised, are some larger pictures of Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, who will be portraying Arya and Sansa Stark, respectively, in the HBO pilot.

Maisie, I am informed, has some previous acting credits. Stage work, I gather, nothing in television or film. Until now. Sorry, I have no further details.

Sophie is brand new, David and Dan tell me. Well, maybe some school plays. She read for us at her school. Don't confuse her with the DR. WHO Sophie Turner, please, or any of the other Sophie Turners that Google will turn up. (She should probably tweak her name to make it more distinctive. Maybe Sophie R.R. Turner. Worked for me)

How 'Bout
Sophie Tucker? That wouldn't be confusing.

Wow, the actress for Arya looks perfect. That's awesome, I'm really glad they got a good Arya by the look of her. I pictured Sansa a little more round-faced, but if she has no prior credits, she probably blew away the casting directors and that speaks for itself.

Right ON. Cannot wait for this :)

I am curious to get your take on this, though I'm sure you've been asked some number of times:

If the series gets picked up, and is successful, and operates on a "one book per season" schedule, as has been bandied about, do you think you would be able to finish the last 3 books within the next six years, in order to stay ahead of the series?

I ask partly because of the amount of effort and length of time you've spent working on Dance, but mainly because despite all of that effort, you did not, to my knowledge, have to busy yourself with the workings of an ongoing television show as well.

Unless I'm overestimating the amount of work you will have to personally spend on the show once it got picked up, that seems like a lot of demand for your time. :( How do you think you would handle that?

I find these two the closest to what I picture from the books out of all those cast so far for aGoT. Excellent choices.
Any word on who will play Bronn? He's my favourite non-POV character, and I haven't seen one mention of him in all these little updates. I feel his fight with Ser Vardis Egen was a huge part of aGoT, and I can't wait to see it on HBO.

Bronn is not in the first 8 chapters of the book, then he won't be in the pilot.
He will be cast only if season 1 will have green-lit, I think.

They both really have the look of the characters.
I think Maisie has the best role. I wish I was a child actor cause I'd want to be Arya too.
Sophie is going to do great too. I just have this feeling that I'm going to be more sympathetic towards Sansa with Sophie in the role than I did while reading her chapters. kudos to the casting peeps.

Im starting to think that not only do the HBO casting directors actually ready your books but they have the same imaginaiton as me! Or...youre such a good writer that everyone can see these charecters the same. They really are perfect in appearance and if they can act then that is just incredible.

I'm still excited and pleased by the casting choices-even though I've never heard of any of them!

As an American, I swear we maybe have a few character actors who are kicking around our shores to fill out some older roles-but the brilliance (of the casting) is the oh you think you know what was happening-take a look at this!

Surprise! You have no clue :D

Ok-to be a jerk-please call Lance Henriksen's agent as the King of modern day dragonstone-gahhh-I will zip it now

How to help the pilot?
So, aside from actually watching the pilot episode(s) is there any other way to have our voice heard and support the series? Some way to make sure HBO sees that there is an audience and a following? I'd love to see this project take off! HBO does such a fine job with their television series that its the perfect format to put your books onto film. Movies wouldn't give you enough time for the character development and different story lines to evolve enough... I may have missed any ideas previously posted - if you find out any ways to help push the pilot let us know!

Re: How to help the pilot?
Excellent question. Tell us what to do, oh Great Leader. :)

The girt playing Arya is smiling. Arya doesn't smile. lol Good choices.

Speaking of Arya's Needlework,
Valyrian Steel has designed Needle and LongClaw with GRRM's approval. Will those designs be found in the HBO series, or are the swords being redesigned from scratch along with all other props?

I'm sure they will both do great work in their new roles, especially considering the room they have to grow as characters in "Game of Thrones".

Just out of curiosity-did you add the RR as a nod to Tolkien?

I'm really delighted with all the positive reactions here ^^

So far, the casting choices are perfect. Maisie and Sophie look pretty much how I pictured Arya and Sansa, and the same goes for the rest of the cast. I'm especially excited for Mark Addy and Peter Dinklage (who was spectacular in Death at a Funeral). I think this HBO series will be good to hold me over until Dance comes out (I haven't given up hope!) as well as refresh me on any plot points/characters I may have forgotten. Here's an excited fanboy.

Hmmm. Sophie looks mighty familiar, so much so that I was a bit shocked to read that she doesn't have any roles under her belt. I will wait to see her with red hair, she's pretty enough without a Doubt, but I see her and think Daenerys.

Maisie is near perfect (at least in this picture) to my imaginary Arya. She seems to have the face that can look plain or stunning, and I think that's important to Arya.. mostly because Ned says she looks like Lyanna and Lyanna was beautifil.

I am so excited!
