Taking another whack at the Meereenese knot today. I'm going to try breaking two largish chapters into four smallish ones, changing the order of events somewhat, and weaving them all together. Maybe that will work a little better.

Can it really be September?? Ack. I can feel the heat of those flames...

just a suggestion
Love your books! I've never emailed before but thought I would just recommend you consider James Callis (Gaius Baltar) for casting with HBO. I could see him playing Littlefinger or perhaps even one of the knights. I thought he did a good job on Battlestar with a very complex character. Thanks for listening and good luck!

George, your books are amazing. Take your time and get it the way you want it. Ignore the pressure...I have a feeling if you fielded a crappy book the feedback would be far worse than it is for a delayed book. In the meantime, if you need a laugh, check this out. It's Hitler all pissed when he learns about Michael Crabtree's holdout. It's hilarious.

for the update but take your time. I know it is frustrating for us as fans to wait so long because we love it so much but I would rather it be the book you wanted than a rush job. I am looking forward to reading a Game of Thrones over again to be refresh before the HBO series starts. Hopefully the time I read through them all again Dance will be ready. If not, I will just have to read them again, oh well. ; )

It is so nice to know the future holds a great book (Dance), a great television show (Game), and a great movie (Hobbit). It is hard to wait but it will be worth it I am sure. Hodor.

a mention of GRRM on Brandon Sanderson's blog

"Writing books is not like building widgets."

I always thought that the Arya chapters in A Storm of Swords were under appreciated.

Earle Stanley Gardner-Author of the Perry Mason Detective series
Wrote a lot of his books on horseback via voice recording into a cassette machine.

The recordings were in turn turned into scripts via a pool of secretaies/stenoists who were on his payroll.

I think travel is a good thing for you george-and perhaps there are a few interns lollygagging around the HBO lots in Hollywood who know how to use computers discreetly.

I recommend the great Country of Turkey (just got back my ownself).

Or perhaps, maybe boppin around These Great United states in National parks-maybe just around some quieter states and whatnot.

I myself use a Sony ICD-ST25 which holds about 10 hours of voice recordings-got it for 60 bucks off of E-Bay.

Completely secure-zaps into a laptop.

Hope this helps-your family and friends would like you to get out and see some stuff-Deh Fam Fams like journeys! :-D

I wish you luck with the restructuring. Hope everything's going well with Dance and all your other projects.

Were they really both left handed?
There are so many characters it's hard to remember that kind of details about all of them ^^"

In our middle ages, being left handed was considered somehow abnormal (and potentially evil) mainly because of christian culture I guess (almost any difference was xD). The cultural background is different here, yet a fight between TWO left handed warriors seems odd enought to be noticed doesn't it? :)

I expect that's artistic license to show the Hound's "good" side. In Storm they're both wielding their swords in their right hands.
