Taking another whack at the Meereenese knot today. I'm going to try breaking two largish chapters into four smallish ones, changing the order of events somewhat, and weaving them all together. Maybe that will work a little better.

Can it really be September?? Ack. I can feel the heat of those flames...

throw us a bone
Dear Grrm,
Good luck with that knot (it seems that you're taking a page from Alexander the Great and his Gordian Knot dilemma...chop away...). To date, I've bought four copies of the series for friends (now they're all hooked---I feel like some sort of pusher of fantasy literature). In the interim, is there any chance you might be willing to give us another chapter online? Throw us a bone, Martin!

the game and the good news!
Hi Geroge:

I'm very happy. I'm enthusiastic for casting of the TV serie, and the game that you are making: all the times that I open your livejournal I can find a new actor or some clues to discover him. It's a fantastic game!! I saw many Tv serie made by unknown actors that can became fantastic. I know that this can be a favolous serie (and I expect some discussion whit my girlfriend on it... -_-)!

Some days ago I want ask you some thig about the Meereenese knot. I hope this can be the Volta's key (in italy is a way of saying).. I'm waiting for your next book, that in Italy it'll arrive an year after than USA!! But you have to take the time that you need, because I love your novel, and I can love them only if you love them (because thay satisfy you)!

Bye, good work and good writing

Re: the game and the good news!
Yeah, adding an year (or a couple of them) to the waitin' process it's a bit of bother.
But it's not happening. Not tihs time!
I'm on my 3rd voyage in the world GRRM created for us and this time it's in english...so I'll be ready. Have you listened to me, Dance?

Very excited
I cannot tell you how excited I am to hear you are working out the knot. My husband and I just finished reading "A Feast for Crows" and are completely addicted to your storytelling. We were turned on to your series about a month ago and could not put the books down until we were done with all four.

Wishing you happy and productive writing!

I've got 4 other ice & fire books in the meantime
Here in LA, there's enough flames going around that I don't need to send any your way. Whatever you need to do to be happy with your book is fine by me. I know it'll be worth it in the end.

I'm curious about the audiobook version though. I have the first 4 in hardcover and audiobook, and was planning to do the same for all the rest. Anyone have any idea how soon the audio versions come out after the hardcover release? I won't ask about who will read it, as I'm sure that's largely schedule-based.

Michael Komarck really is my favorite artist as for the Ice and Fire illustrations, and he is also a tremendously talented artist. as anyone can see.
Thanks for showing those illustrations Mr Martin.

An Inspiring Dance
I relish any update you give to Dance of Dragons and I very much enjoy reading about your insights into the writing process. I am new to Live Journals but I think this is great. I am an avid reader, an aspiring writer (not-so-fresh out of grad school) and I am currently an English Teacher. Your books have rekindled my interest in the fantasy genre like no other.

In my belief, Mr. Martin, there is no literary knot too tangled for you. It is just, being a man of your stature and having so much to deal with, it may take you some time. Good luck and great to hear about the book.

Why don't I recognize that scene this image is depicting? I'm going to lose my fanboy status.

Wait, I remember now.

Writing epic novels (especially ones that are of the caliber of your wonderful series)... challenging stuff, man, to say the least.

Much respect.

Hello George
First off let me say that I love your book series, I push it on everyone I know and they all have loved it as well.

I just came across a casting list for the series, I am rather disappointed in mainly two of them.

Jon Snow & Jamie Lannister

Jamie I pictured as a less hard faced man & more of a man with a permanent smirk on his face. I wonder if you did the casting and if this is how you saw him and you think the man fits?

Jon... to me should look like his father and the chosen actor looks to me more like a softer "southern" type. I hope that in the filming he looks more like I immagined.

Re: Hello George
ha! In my view, the very two you mention are the most appropriate in terms of looks. Especially Jon - he's got that perfect dour, long face look (kind of hard to find in such a young actor). On the other hand, I don't care so much for the choice for Cersei, or for Robb. Tastes differ...

At any rate, I think we should all agree that it will be the quality of the acting that will matter.

How goes that knot? Just curious. Are those 2 chapters from 2 different POV's? Anyhow good luck with all that. Oh and go Eagles...:P
