Dance, Dance, Dance

Finished a Jon Snow chapter, and have just passed the 1100 page (manuscript pages, the page count in the final printed book will be different) mark on A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. That's counting only finished chapters in something close to final form. I have considerably more in partials, fragments, and roughs.

Even with just the finished portions, DANCE is now longer than A FEAST FOR CROWS and A GAME OF THRONES, and I'm closing in on A CLASH OF KINGS. I do hope I can wrap things up before I approach the 1521 page length of A STORM OF SWORDS.

Making a new run at the Meereenese knot, but maybe not tomorrow. I think I'll hang around at the Wall a bit longer, and maybe visit Winterfell.

Excellent news! Thanks for the update, sounds like you're maybe around the 3/4 mark for the book, and in the meantime I'll have the new D&E to read... Perfect! =)

ASOIAF series
Mr. Martin,

I realize this is a touchy subject, but maybe I can just vent a little.
Being aware that you have no obligation to your readers (I agree btw).
My concern is for the rest of the series. Can we expect the next book in 2014-15 and the last in 2020-21 ?
I'm exagerrating of course (I hope!!), but you see my point.

Thanks for letting me get my 2 cents in.

Hoping for an answer,

That's awesome!

I'm curious, are those ms pages double-spaced or single-spaced?

Happy crafting!

no hurry.
I am just hlafway the STORM as I only discovered this serie a few weeks ago.
My only concern is
will the release of the DANCE be a paperback or a hardcover?
the Song is quite a popular serie and publishers then tend to wanna make extra bucks by releasing a hardcover first before a paperback a year or so later.

And it looks so slobby on the shelf: sudden change in size of a serie.

Dear Mr Martin, the more you write, the more I'll read, I just hope we both live long enough to see the end. Actually, I would have to live a little longer than you, but I'm quite a bit younger, so I stand a chance. Live long and prosper.

Oh, RIGHT ON! I'm so excited for this. Amazon just bumped my preorder til October of 2010, but it's nice to see progress.

YAY for the Wall and Winterfell!

how wonderful! Hope you are enjoying writing it as much as we will all enjoy reading it! :)

I'm re-reading the entire series right now...just finished GoT and I'm amazed at all the subtle foreshadowing I didn't pick up on the first few times.

!!Caution extreme sarcasm:!!
Mr. Martin thats good news I can't wait !! But just to let you know you can relax and take your time on the book, Sarah Palin's book will be out soon and we all know how entertaining and thought provoking it will be, A book for the ages !!
