Dance, Dance, Dance

Finished a Jon Snow chapter, and have just passed the 1100 page (manuscript pages, the page count in the final printed book will be different) mark on A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. That's counting only finished chapters in something close to final form. I have considerably more in partials, fragments, and roughs.

Even with just the finished portions, DANCE is now longer than A FEAST FOR CROWS and A GAME OF THRONES, and I'm closing in on A CLASH OF KINGS. I do hope I can wrap things up before I approach the 1521 page length of A STORM OF SWORDS.

Making a new run at the Meereenese knot, but maybe not tomorrow. I think I'll hang around at the Wall a bit longer, and maybe visit Winterfell.

Beautiful. Keep on truckin', good sir. Which is your favorite plotline to work on, if I may ask?

All progress is good! And I'd love another 1500+ pages of Ice & Fire!

Good to hear
George, it is great news to hear you are making progress. Keep it up! And I always enjoy the long novels... short ones just don't have enough to savor!

As long as it's not actually fatter than it is tall, it is not too long.

And even then, a mass market paperback would cost exactly $7.99 anyway, so it could only be "too long" in hardcover, due to being really heavy.

Personally, I think A Storm of Swords was a perfect book length. I got exactly one full weekend of poolside lounging out of it.

Dance
Very cool! Congratulations on the breakthrough!

While I know you're not my bitch (tho maybe Phippsie's), and I don't want you to rush anything; I will be very, very glad to see Dance in my hands.

Love to you and Parris!

Wow! Impressive. and i have no doubt that every word is of the highest quality. Thank you for the heads up on how it's all going.

On behalf of your fans out their, take your time. Truly. We respect you for what you write, and anyone with half a brain knows that anything worthwhile takes time. I'd gladly wait 10 years for the next book if that's what it took. Cause i would know that when it came out it would be worthy of the name.

Also, make sure you put a sweater on... i hear it's cold down at the Wall/Winterfell... and i'm told Winter is coming. :)

Haven't you heard George? Bigger is better!
If I'm not able to kill a man in one sound blow with the hardback edition of ADWD then you're not doing your job.

It is dangerous, my friend, to have such a title and to then lead the entry off with the word finished.

My hopes were in my throat for a short moment there.

I have to agree, I saw the cover and read the first word and I almost shouted for joy. Well as it turns out I am still very happy with the news. Actually I would like to see more updates like this if you are able. Unless the days you post these book updates are the only days you make progress, and if that is the case then...I am making myself depressed wondering if that is the case. Anyways, glad to hear the news. Any chance we can get some pictures and updates from the filming of the pilot? Also, I can't wait for my Vikings to meet your Giants in the playoffs! My purple team might fare a bit better against the G-Men than the last few times, just saying.
