Dance, Dance, Dance

Finished a Jon Snow chapter, and have just passed the 1100 page (manuscript pages, the page count in the final printed book will be different) mark on A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. That's counting only finished chapters in something close to final form. I have considerably more in partials, fragments, and roughs.

Even with just the finished portions, DANCE is now longer than A FEAST FOR CROWS and A GAME OF THRONES, and I'm closing in on A CLASH OF KINGS. I do hope I can wrap things up before I approach the 1521 page length of A STORM OF SWORDS.

Making a new run at the Meereenese knot, but maybe not tomorrow. I think I'll hang around at the Wall a bit longer, and maybe visit Winterfell.

Ok, so, to sum up. The book will be huge. You hope it will be under 1500 pages, so if you're currently at 1100, then, we're close. But it's ok, we've waited this far, just make it be good.
Also, I have been plotting in my head about the future of Westeros, but I cannot post it cause its spoilery. Which is a shame, really, cause it had some really good ideas.

Rockin'! Looking forward to seeing it when it comes out.

Also, Jon is one of my favourite characters. ^_^

Anticipation
So awesome to hear about your progress! I got incredibly spoiled because I started reading the series in the spring of this year, so I was able to go from the next to the next to the next without interruption.

Between this news and the great job so far on the pilot, this series is my newest obsession. Thank you so much for bringing this to life.

Yippee
The bigger the better. If you do pass that 1521 mark, I'll be happy to rent a dolly and a truck to get it home.

Banzai!
Great news! Thanks for going out of your way to keep us updated. No matter how long it takes to finish up DANCE, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. Thank you for your hard work and great writing!

Kudos on all the hard work! I'm glad it will be a longer book - more pages to devour. ;)

In the meantime, I picked up a copy of "Fevre Dream" recently without even knowing what it was about. I was skeptical when I realized it centers on vampires, as I'm generally not a fan, but I cannot put this book down! (Er, well, I put it down long enough to post this comment).

Keep up the good work!

thanks!
Thanks for the update George. It's nice to hear that you're still chugging along and making progress, and the majority of us are mature enough to know that it's no indication that it'll be finished tomorrow ;)

ELEVEN. HUNDRED. PAGES. My longest book to date was 826 manuscript pages and I thought that was an unwieldy behemoth. I am genuinely in awe of authors who write books half and twice again that length...and I know a lot of them! Oi!
