Signings in Ireland

November 3: 1:00PM

signing at
Eason & Son, Ltd.
20 Donegall Place,
Belfast, Belfast, BT1 5BA

November 5: 5:00 PM

signing at:
40 O'connell Street Upper
Dublin, Ireland

Those of you who cannot make the events can still order a signed book. Just call Eason's ahead of time and pre-order, and they will put your book aside for me to sign when I am there, then ship it to you afterwards.

Parris and I are looking forward to meeting many of you in Ireland.

What book should we order to be signed? Can I order a dictionary? "Every word I've ever written, I've taken from this book." Verbally yours, George. :)

Are you doing any signings in Waterstone's in Ireland?
Oct. 8th, 2009 12:07 am (UTC)
no waterson's
the only two signings that HarperCollinsUK set up for this trip were at the Eason's in Belfast and Dublin. This is not a full-blown book tour, but George felt he could squeeze in a couple of signings during the trip, since he's never done a book tour in Ni or RoI. Getting a good crowd at the signings with lots of book sales will encourage HCUK to consider adding bookstores in Ireland if George does a tour in the UK for A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. If you work in a bookstore or frequent one where you are friendly with the owner or staff, you may want to see what you can do to convince HCUK to add that shop to the DANCE tour.

Re: no Waterstone's
Thanks. Yes, I work for Waterstone's and it's very hard to get bookshop events in Ireland where Easons are the biggest chain. We tend to get events with authors in England, Scotland and Wales only.

for people who are coming to the signings in Belfast and Dublin
we're going to have Brotherhood without Banners (George's fan group) moots at pubs after the signings. You will find more information about the moots over at the BwB forum - just look for the threads about the city-specific events.

this will be a great chance to enjoy meeting other GRRM readers/SF fans in a more casual setting after the signings. We're taking a head count now to estimate how large a room we need to reserve. In Belfast we'll be going to McHugh's, most likely, which has rooms that look like they'll be the right size for our group, and offers a very nice pub/dinner menu for those of us who will need to eat.

If you're interested in joining us for the moot, please go over to the Bros threads and let us know you'll be coming. I won't be able to monitor this blog post of George's for long with all that has to be done before we travel, so keeping the rsvps to the Bros threads will save me a lot of time and hassle.

Thanks and we hope to meet you in Dublin or Belfast in just a few weeks.

See you in Dublin!

See you in Belfast, George and Parris :)

Yeah, could people who are interested in the moot after the signings go and sign up in the thread, as Parris has asked. We want to make sure we've got at least a rough headcount so that we don't end up booking a room way too big or way too small.

Looking forward to seeing you in Belfast. Might not be able to make McHugh's but it is a godd pub with decent grub. The perfect place for a Moot, maybe not a Red Wedding...

Strings were pulled, George. Strings were pulled... ;)

I'll see you in Dublin with a mate of mine. Managed to get him into the series recently and he's looking forward to meeting you also. :D

Is there any schedule for your appearances/signings at this event? It is next week and I haven't seen anything. I have been waiting to go to this for 3 years so I am a little excited. :)

Re: ValleyCon
I'll be there all weekend, Friday through Sunday, doing a reading, panels, some Q&A, and no doubt hanging around some parties at night.

That's what I call bad timing. Just came back from my autumn holiday in DUBLIN, IRELAND. Couldn't you have come one month earlier? :-) Would've been great to meet you, unfortunately I won't be able to come over again this year. Hope you'll enjoy Ireland as much as I did.
