Feeling Guilty

I've met Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner (and their charming moms). They're terrific, bright and beautiful and bursting with enthusiasm, excited to be a part of this.

And now I'm having pangs of guilt about all the horrors that they're going to have to go through in the months and years to come, thanks to me.

I'm going to have to rewrite the books so only nice things happen to Arya and Sansa. Might change the story some.

Also ran into Ron Donachie, Jennfier Ehle, and Kit Harington, and all of them were great The rest of the cast is around here somewhere too, but we haven't bumped into them yet. But I expect we'll meet them all today on set.

I think Maisie's and Sophie's moms will have to have *that* talk with them very soon.

I only just came across your LJ last night, but I think this will be my first comment of many. :) I'm on my second read through ASoIaF, and enjoying it even more than I did last time.

Regarding the girls who will play Arya and Sansa, I can definitely understand your worries! One of the things I like so much about your tale, though, is how honest and brutal it is - no sugar coating. :)

Football (No spoliers!)
You know, it seems that it would be fair if we fans got to repay all your riddling while you're overseas. Could we give you mysterious, cryptic hints about how New Jersey/A and /B fared on Sunday? :)

"I'm going to have to rewrite the books so only nice things happen to Arya and Sansa. Might change the story some."

Come now -- you have already been more than careful and kind with those gals, and if you bias things any more, it won't be medieval-believable! And how is Sansa ever going to grow up to be as cunning and delicious as the court ladies she looks up to so much, if she doesn't learn her lessons early? (Mean-sounding yes, but I'm rooting for a young Eleanor of Aquitaine personality to come about from her young misfortunes.)

Though I could have done without the latest misfortune to poor Arya in the last book, but I still have faith that there is a legitimate reasons for it...which will eventually come out in a new chapter...

Um, THANK you! Maybe I should thank them. They were awful cute, I'm not sure how you could bear to bring their characters fictional harm! But I've been saying this for years. Making empty threats that I'd bury the books if you hurt poor little Arya or Sansa.

Course I've read these books six times over by now, so I'm just as hopeless as they are.

How fun must that be though, to meet these stars who are going to help put more of a face on your work. Hope you enjoy it :)

I believe you are filming where I walk the dog; sharing a location with Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Typical Scottish weather for it.

Exciting stuff, enjoy the filming!

And by the way, in my personal predictions, Arya will one day be conqueror of Westeros, and Sansa, due to her becoming more accustomed to politics and diplomacy, will be Arya's Hand. So, justice will be served, I'm sure! ;)

I think of all the actors, I'm the most excited to see all the younger crowd in action. From Theon down, all seem to be unknown and untried...they will truly become the characters for some of us. I'm really looking forward to seeing Maisie and Sophie...horrors and all.

You'd have to rename it "A Game of Tag".

If you do re-write, yours won't be the first fantasy series to TV with drastically altered stories and plot lines. *wink wink, nudge, nudge*

It's a good thing you didn't sign with Raimi. *Say no more!*

From the start, was the book written to be a movie screenplay or script? The book is really good. And often, good books are made into movies and not movies, made into good books.
If ever you would meet other casts or their mothers (now or in the later seasons) who are: "terrific, bright and beautiful and bursting with enthusiasm, excited ..." Would changing the book's story be considered once again?
Then again, its your world, we just live in it.

AWWWW, those poor little girls. But serious for a sec: don't change it! ;)

So excited this is happening. Let's hope it goes on for YEARS AND YEARS to come.

Sansa and Arya horrors?
This leads me to believe that it only gets worse for the two girls...

Don't you ever get tired of torturing your characters? What's next? Does Arya end up having to kill Sansa by clubbing her to death with Rickon's body? Can't you write a happy ending for once?

Just kidding. Bring on the pain! I love the "not always a happy ending" method you have, and that's why I love most all your work.
