Feeling Guilty

I've met Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner (and their charming moms). They're terrific, bright and beautiful and bursting with enthusiasm, excited to be a part of this.

And now I'm having pangs of guilt about all the horrors that they're going to have to go through in the months and years to come, thanks to me.

I'm going to have to rewrite the books so only nice things happen to Arya and Sansa. Might change the story some.

Also ran into Ron Donachie, Jennfier Ehle, and Kit Harington, and all of them were great The rest of the cast is around here somewhere too, but we haven't bumped into them yet. But I expect we'll meet them all today on set.

That's so true. These girls have no idea what they're in for. Though I assume the Dog's chest twisting will be toned down.

I imagine that's the closest you'll ever get to having to actually look your characters in the eyes when you condemn them to a life of horror and pain. Writing a series like yours is not a job for the weak of stomach...

Heh. Ned Stark's philosophy is for the condemning lord to face and execute the convict personally. Now Mr. Martin has to toughen and live up to Ned's standards (or almost...)

Oh man. I bet you guys are having a blast. This must be so fricking cool for you both. Have fun on set!

Er...that might be an "interesting" rewrite. So, all the Starks live, Sansa marries Joffrey, who is the nicest, handsomest prince ever, Arya becomes Brienne's squire, and everyone lives happily ever after?

It's okay, George. Maisie and Sophie are ACTORS. They're professionals. They're young, but I'm sure they'll understand. ;-D

Make 'em suffer!

Feel free to have Sansa die a relatively painless death. Even those of us who hate her as a character wouldn't begrudge that. :-)

Dont feel guilty George, little girls can be tougher than they look (I know, I was one!) Besides, these girls have Sean Bean as a Dad!! A million Beanygirls would die to trade places with them, me included!!

Best wishes on the filming!
I hope you have recovered from your jet lag and enjoy seeing your wonderful tale brought to life! And don't worry too much about having met the nice girls playing Arya and Sansa and feeling bad for what their characters go through. I'm sure they came on knowing the roles would be challenging! And frankly, they are wonderfully contrasting characters that stand out in a sea of memorable ones. I'm sure they're going to love the roles! Enjoy the day!

I can't wait to hear your updates on how the filming's coming along. Hope you enjoy watching your work come to life!

Woot filming.
It must be a blast seeing your books come to life!

Geekasm! Thinking of all the banners and heraldry and costumes and characters all dressed up for their roles.

Aww really?

Can I just say? I haven't been following this, but I just looked at casting lists and your cast is EXCELLENT.

Now, my only hope is that you get Kurtwood Smith for Tywin Lannister... ;-)

This must be so exciting for you to see your hard work come to life! You definitely deserve it! Have a wonderful time in paradise. :)

Today is my 27th birthday, and I just heard good news, Amazon says they anticipate shipping Dance to me in September. I am crossing my fingers that I will be getting an early 28th birthday prezzie next year.

Thanks for your stories. I have followed you since Beauty and the Beast when I was a little girl. I can't wait to have another tv series to capture my imagination, this time based on my most cherished novel series. Thank You for everything you do.

No way! You can't change it! I'll cry if another story I love gets destroyed in the transition to the screen (like the Legend of the Seeker - not happy at all with that show, compared to the books). People want to tune in to see that drama, and hey, it'll be character building experiences (literally) for those girls. They'll manage. :)

That said, I'm really looking forward to when the pilot is available to the masses! Good luck.

Wait Wait Wait
Does anyone know when the filming at Doune stops? I'm off-work next week and would love to pop up and see the sets and crew and the Big G himself!
