It's a Wrap

Another highlight of my time in Morocco was the wrap party.

For those not familiar with the term, it's a Hollywood tradition to throw a big party when you finish shooting -- or "wrap" -- on a movie or television project. I attended quite a few great wrap parties during my ten years in LA, but the GAME OF THRONES wrap party blew them all away. We held it in the Ouarzazate Museum of Cinema, a pretty amazing place itself, complete with local musicians, belly dancers, acres of Moroccan delicicacies, and lots of spirits to lubricate the exhausted cast and crew. And when the museum threw us out, we just adjourned back to the Berbere Palace, where the party continued.

These few poor snapsnots don't capture a tenth of what went on. But hey, what happens in Morocco stays in Morocco, right?

A great time was had by all... except, of course, for the cast members who shot their scenes in Ireland and Scotland, and the Irish and UK crew who did not get to make the trip to Morocco. The drawback of shooting in so many different places... everyone couldn't be there together to celebrate the end of the shoot.

My father lived in Morocco for a few years in the early 70's. He brought home a large chest bursting with elaborately painted glass beads. He said that they had been used as currency in the past and were still traded in some small fasion (at the time he left).

I was wondering if you noticed any of these beads still being traded. It's likely that one would not notice them if they were just decorative, but people tend to take more notice of currency.

Is it wrong that the main thing I've gleaned from your last two posts is that I love Ty's hair? :D Granted, long hair on men is my one true weakness in life ;)

Totally off topic, but that's a beautiful avatar image! Is that a piece of Kushiel fan art, or a fan photo? I can't tell and it's driving me mad. :)

Robert Baratheon
HAHA, George I always believed that if any character represented you in the book, it was Robert Barateon. He knew how to laugh and how to party, and based on all the humor implanted in the books, and these pictures, the puzzle pieces are fitting together.

you show em, George! age don't matter, big pimpin' for life!

Looks like smashing good fun. Good thing you're married or you might had too much fun and we'd never know how it ends.

Looks like a great time and even fonder memories to me George. I hope the series has as deep an impact on viewers as the books had on readers. Flying sucks but I think you'd have to agree it is well worth it : )

All the Wild Cards books under Tor have had absolutely stellar covers. I'd frame them and hang them on my wall if I could.

Are all these examples digital artwork? It doesn't look like traditional oil on canvas. I miss the fantasy/sci-fi covers of the '70s and '80s. Even the paperbacks had amazing covers.

Whatever anyone can get their hands on is, I suspect, the right answer.

At the last party, it was an open bar with pretty much everything you can imagine on offer. There were some special drinks as…

Any chance you could tell us who’s doing the cover art for Fire and Blood? And maybe when we can expect a glimpse of it. Thank you!
