Clearance Sale at Valyrian Resin

All good things come to an end, alas.

Valyrian Resin's line of Ice & Fire minibusts is one of those. My license with Haute Products has now run its course and expired, so there will be no more releases.

(A pity. Their sculptor Justice Joseph was working up some great figures).

There's a silver lining in the cloud, however. To move its unsold inventory, Valyrian Resin has just anounced a special sale on the resin minibusts still in stock.

Jed Haigh writes:

We are having a sale to clear out the remainder of our inventory. This is a great opportunity for anyone who hasn’t purchased pieces to get them at a discount. But don’t worry, if you have already purchased pieces, we will give you even more of a discount if you wish to purchase more pieces.

Our new website is still at the same web address: www.valyrianresin.com.

Our new web-store is located here: http://stores.valyrianresin.com/StoreFront.bok

You can click on the Shoppe button on any page of our website to access our web-store. The Ice and Fire page of our website features some previously unreleased design drawings you may want to check out.

Here’s how the sale will work. All Variants and Regular pieces when purchased individually, or two at a time are $10 off. If you buy a set of variants, or a set of regular pieces ( a set is a set of three variants or regular pieces) you will receive $40 off. If you are a repeat customer send us and email and we will further discount your purchase!

All of these discounts are already applied to the different products on our web store. So if you purchase individual pieces or sets the discounts are already applied. However, for repeat customers, you must email us to get the further discounts we are offering!

Also, if you are a retailer or just a group of Ice and Fire fans who have come together to purchase a bunch of pieces, you may qualify for a wholesale rate for even further discounts! Just send us and email (either by emailing jhaigh@valyrianresin.com) or simply by clicking on the contact button on any page of our web-site and we can discuss group and wholesale rates.

Thanks for your support

Supplies are limited, and no more of these figures will be produced, so once these are gone, that's that. If you've ever wanted one of these collectibles, this is the time to act.

Very nice.

but..ummm....isnt Dany 13-14 years old?
Apr. 5th, 2010 08:51 pm (UTC)
I think she's more like 15 at the time the figurine represents her. If you're concerned about her state of dress, given the Qartheen gown, never fear, it's perfectly PG.

Ned's my favorite, I think, but the Hound is really massive and monstrous-looking.

You never know when someone is going to raise a huge stink, and its just unfortunate for everyone involved. Especially when HBO is raising the profile so much.

Tho i have to agree with Ned being the best :)

The original packaging for the figure actually had her with an exposed nipple, but I suspect the age concerns forced them to add that strategically-placed bit of hair. Eh.

What's up with the American citizen's inate fear of nipples?

George R. R. Martin's books are not exactly children's literature. They contain murder, torture and beheadings (as well as people of low morals). In light of that, what's so frightening about a nipple here and there? :-)

Thanks for telling us about these! I never would have known they existed if not for this post! I ordered one; they look very cool!
Apr. 6th, 2010 01:46 pm (UTC)
Are the stubs prepainted? 'Cause if I start tossing paint on them, they surely will not look as good as in the pics :)

Really super duper cool! Thanks for letting us know, Ser Martin!
Wow - made an LJ account just to comment on these amazing miniatures!! The detail on these minis almost transports me to Westeros and the Dany miniature really plunks my magic twanger! ^_^ Just curious, will someone else be making other miniatures just like these? I don't care about ADWD, I'm all about these mini figures - as the saying goes, gotta catch 'em all!

Those look damned awesome, Ser! Dany looks hot! I'm just ticked that I hadn't heard of these before.

Can't Go Rome Again
I know it's totally off topic but I was wondering if you gave up on Spartacus after the train-wreck of the first episode or if you've given it another chance. For what the show is, gratuitous violence & unnecessary nudity (it has its moments there), the writing itself seems to improve with each episode. Granted it started as shit so that means it's just okay now, but considering what else is on, it is entertaining. Alas it'll never be Rome but until Game next year I'd rather watch that then melodramatic vampires with great fashion sense.

Awesome really, love The Hound & Ned

This post is the product of a lack of education and a current bad attitude.....cheers!
First off I'm fully aware this is not the place to post the following statements....fortunately, overall laziness and lack of caring make it possible....YaY!
ok...here we go....

1) I hold George R. R. Martin fully responsible for my new found total inability to enjoy literature of any type. Everything else is just crap.... I've even sworn you off completely, numerous times. But its as if your books are like an emotionally abusive yet beautifull women....I keep coming back.

2) I'm not even going to ask when Dance is going to be released...I believe if I query again Barnes and Noble will have me arrested for violating a relief from abuse order..

3) If you(George) should happen die before this series is completed, I will track down your grave and spill urine in the general vicinity... In the event of incapacitation, alzheimers, senility, etc.. urine placement will be revised...

Thanks so much and have a great day!!

Just a head's up to anyone considering purchasing these. I ordered all six and was extremely dismayed to find out when they arrived that they are made in China. I guess I assumed that since they cost $55 and $65 a piece, they were American made. I suppose that is the way of our world now, but to let you know, these are $55 to $65 pieces of Chinese plastic (or resin?)

Re: Busts
...um, why should it matter if they are made in China? This reply is being written in China, does that mean you shouldn't read it?

Re: Busts
Why does it matter that they are made in China? hmm... this can go into a long political debate, but to put it as succinctly as possible: To many people in my country, myself included, MADE IN USA still means something.
To extrapolate: I was simply trying to inform potential American buyers of this fact. I could go on all day about the plight of Chinese workers or you could google it yourself to see what I'm talking about(if your communist government allows you to view this type of information). Suffice it to say, I have nothing against the Chinese workers, quite the contrary, I pity them. However, I make a conscious effort to buy American made products where workers like myself have rights and are paid a livable wage... it is nothing against you, unless you are a sweat-shop boss or owner. Regards.

Re: Busts
Just so you know, I am an American citizen, born and raised. I've been in Beijing teaching English for the past year, so that's my story. It ain't my communist government :). Don't get me started on all the web pages they don't let me see.

But as to your pitying of the Chinese sweat shop worker and all that, I probably would have agreed with you last year. But let me tell you, China is a modern country not so very different from the States. The people are nice, prosperity is spreading (compare China now to China 20 years ago), and crime is staggeringly low. So, don't believe everything you hear about China in the West. Does China have problems? Of course. Are they on the right track? Yes.

And also, it does seem a little backwards to say "Chinese workers don't get paid enough, thus I am not going to support them out of protest, thus causing them to get paid even less."

Wow, these are awesome. I especially like the Hound variant, I haven't imagined his helm as being quite that distinctive but it's great. Dany's looking pretty as ever too.

The charming time.
I resisted before, because I could afford neither the money nor the shelf space. But I'm giving in this time and ordering one of these fine pieces.

I just hope my bank account recovers in time for the book orders to open up again in June. [Is that still the plan?!?] I'm really hoping I can get in on the calendar deal, if I can scrape up the U$100 for the books.

I am concerned that there does not appear to be an email address or any sort of contact details for this company on the web page quoted above. There is a link for 'service' but it seems to be dead. If there is a problem with my order, how will I be able to chase it up? It's a shame because I was considering buying...
