No Place Like Home

We got back home last night, after a pleasant weekend at LepreCon. The convention was very small, only half the size of Bubonicon, but the Phoenix fen were a friendly bunch and we had a great time.

I should never go away, though. The amount of stuff that builds up when I leave, even for a short trip like this one, is truly daunting. Hundreds of emails, huge stacks of snail mail (bills, contracts, junk, with a few real letters salted in)... and, for this trip at least, must be a hundred or more new audition tapes for parts both small (Rast, Mord, Jhogo) and large (Lord Tywin, Ser Barristan, Lysa Arryn) in the HBO series. I was keeping up with the auditions pretty well. Now I'm way, way behind...

Well, nothing to do but get into it. I have another convention trip coming up soon, and lots to do before we go.

The Master
What if you could get Christopher Lee to play in the series? WOW!!! What part would you most like to see him play? I think Lord Tywin might be ideal, but he wouldn't have a very big role. Hmmm???

Re: The Master
Christopher Lee is about 20-30 years too old to play Tywin. The only roles I think he'd be suited for is Maester Aemon, if they made him upt to be frailer than he is, or possibly Grand Maester Pycelle.

Re: The Master
Your icon just gave me a thought: Philip Glenister as Randyl Tarly.

Come on. Tell me that's not brilliant.

Re: The Master
After seeing him on the Tudors I do believe that David O’Hara has the menacing humorless demeanor of Tywin Lannister. May be a bit young though, but they could surely age him up just a bit.

Re: The Master
After Glenister's performance in the ASHES TO ASHES finale (which kicks the absolutely shite American finale to LIFE ON MARS in the balls and no mistake), I'd be happy if he was cast as Rickon ;-)

More logically, I think he'd make an outstanding Davos and an excellent Blackfish.

Re: The Master
Lee would have a rather large price tag for such a minor role, no? I'm surprised they could afford Bean.

This show is going to be great!
