Snowbound

Falling way behind here on LiveJournal, I know. I've got lots more parts and actors to talk about, the RTS game to announce, the Eenie Awards....

Snowing heavily in Santa Fe, however, and I've been on a bit of a roll. I'll get to all that other stuff when I can. Kong comes first.

Pat's just died. A quick death, but a messy one. Ugly, painful, humiliating. But hey, he earned it.

Off I go to shovel Snow.

GRRM
I just have to tell you GM, you are, IMO, the greatest fantasy writer ever. JRRT may have been the inspiration to many but you have far surpassed his sometimes juvenile creation. If you never published another single word I will forever treasure ASOIAF for the rest of my life and will reread it often.

Thank you for making my world a bit more enjoyable.

Re: GRRM
I applaud the sentiment, but don't even joke about not publishing another word.

The beast, she must be fed.

I saw an author,
knee deep in snow.
I saw him busy,
and left him so.
And alone he shoveled, as I crept away;
to sneak, unmolested, through his back door.
Where deep within,
I saw the pages of his lore.
And so I shuffled, bent and ruffled,
fanning fantastically in a winsome way.
I left them stacked neatly, though ordered not,
and giggled as I left,
something something something...

Well it was a start...

GRRM, Trust me - Don't worry about falling behind on LiveJournal. I feel fairly certain that no harm will befall you for concentrating on the ape.

Exactly
George on a bit of a roll with ADWD is enough to make my day - it doesn't matter if the rest of the post says he was smoking crack or biting the heads off kittens - me happy!

So jealous of your snow! I'm in Minnesota and it's 90 degrees right now, which is as miserable as it gets!

Keep battling on! Almost there.

On a side note, two wonderful pieces of art to look at from the game cyanide are making. :D

If you are into PC games then you should check Blues News from time to time. Here's the article posted last week:

http://www.bluesnews.com/s/112236/a-game-of-thrones-genesis-announced

It's actually very old news...I believe the original was early this year...yep...here's the original posting:

http://www.bluesnews.com/s/98284/a-song-of-ice-and-fire-games

I believe GRRM mentioned it back then as well, or perhaps it was in an interview or an article from an interview concerning the movie.

Looks like the development team really doesn't have the experience with this kind of game. But, if they have some good talent then it might be worth trying. The screenshots from this Press Release do look very well drawn; though, if the town is Winterfell then I don't see the Godswood.

Yeah, I knew about the game ages ago, but the art work was new to me. I think it's supposed to Castle Black though. Hence it's in ruins. ;) No matter what the game turns out like I think I'll be buying the art book. :D

I too am craving winter in all it's crispy glory! I'm loving the snow theme. Here's another poem that may be familiar:
Whose woods these are I think I know
His house is in the village though
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downey flake

The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep

Snow?
WTF? But it's 27c/80f degrees in Santa Fe . . . Oh, Snow! OK, you're off to "shovel" some "Snow", gotcha. It's one of those idea-carrying-thingies :)

P.S. When I first met my wife there was a lot of Metaphor in our relationship . . . I met-her-for the cinema, I met-her-for a drink :)
