Belfast At Last

Ashford Castle has some impressive halls and chambers... but nothing to compare to the high hall of the Eyrie, and the throne room in the Red Keep of King's Landing. Hot damn.

I'd say more, but in a few minutes we're off to Castle Black and the Wall.

Oh that sounds amazing! I suppose it would be a no-no to give us a few pics to whet our appetites?

Enjoy the North and Belfast - just left there yesterday and already miss it. Beautiful. I kind of prefer it over Dublin. BTW, was very nice meeting you in Dublin on Thursday afternoon before the convention (remember the German girl in the little tea place next to the hotel where you had cappuccino and carrot cake?:-)))

That has got to be the coolest experience for you! I can't even imagine.

So jealous.

...and how does it feel to say that out loud? And have it be, like, real-ish? =)

So exciting!! =D

Ashford Castle
I was lucky enough to spend one night at Ashford Castle back when my family made a trip to Ireland in '96. It was my first time ever in a castle and it was amazing! Beautiful landscaping all around and the golf course was pretty challenging. Also, I was 18 at the time and just old enough to legally drink in the dungeon/bar downstairs there. I'd love to revisit sometime.

That has to be something -- seeing your own inventions coming to life. I can't wait for this series. The only thing I want more is your next book!

Licensing idea
Mr. Martin, I have never seen any children's (or adult for that matter) Halloween costumes in the themes of the great houses from ASOIAF. I would absolutely love this. If I could go out and buy an Arya costume, I wouldn't have to dress my daughter as a cupcake princess.

I know, I know, all it would take is a little creativity on my part and I could make this happen. Unfortunately, creativity just isn't my thing (accountant).

Have fun at Castle Black! I guess even I could pull off a Night's Watch costume.

Oh to have the power to bring one's thoughts to reality.
You must be so excited.

Heck, I'm excited for ya.

That would be a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, despite it's many advantages Australia doesn't have castles.

Really I can't even imagine how awesome that must be for you. To see the products of your imagination made solid. Only wish I could be there.

I cannot even imagine how awesome it must feel to have your own inner world come to life like that. Enjoy it Mr. Martin, you have certainly earned it!

C2E2 George??
Chills. 2011 can't come fast enough. GRRRM: Are you planning on attending C2E2 next year? It was great to see you earlier this year in your old stomping grounds.

HBO Series!
I'm only halfway through A Game of Thrones now, but really love it and was super excited to hear that it's being made into an HBO Series. I can't wait to see how it looks, especially The Wall.
I hope they produce all four seasons! Good luck with the filming.

Hi George, Hope you have a great time up North and hope Irelands been good to you:) By the way I was the guy in the suit who hit you up for a couple of autographs in Dublin airport the morning you arrived:) Thanks again, and thanks for taking the time. I imagine you would have been tired after your journey but you still cheerfully made time for a fan. It was a great experience to meet you and my buddy (who you also signed for) is delighted too. Needless to say we can't wait for the new book. Hope you enjoy the experience of seeing your wonderful imagination and creativity coming to life!

Castles and such
A shame you aren't in the west of Ireland. Shannon Castle is great. Not that you can go wrong any where in Ireland.

Hi George!
I've just gotten wind that you will be in Malta soon for the shooting of Game of Thrones. Please please consider spending some time book signing! We Maltese may not get another opportunity to meet you in our home island!

Look, wolves have happy moments sometimes. You can let the starks have one too, every once in a while.

Bastards in westero
Hope your enjoying yourself in Belfast. I was wondering if a baby is born in Westero are they automatically given the surname of the region like someone in the vale getting the name stone or is it based on were they grow up?

Today is election day and it seems that the anti-everything republicans will gain control again. Do yourself a favor and stay in Ireland. Can I join you? I can cook and clean and I can live in the basement. I also brew my own beer. My kids are cute and would call you Nuncle George. Chew on it for a while. :)

what i wouldn't give
to walk the halls of the eyrie, or explore the dragon chambers in king's landing. after HBO, you should open the seven kingdoms for us to explore! (okay, i know harry potter just did this, but this would be SO MUCH COOLER). also, what breed of dogs are you using for the dire wolves? (not that i expect you to answer, busy thing that you are) i've always fancied my pooch to be something like nymeria, even though she's a short, stocky pitbull and not a long graceful wolf.

i'm rambling, but it's only because i've re-read the first books about a hundred times each, can quote, and am turning into a LARP-ing, fanatical crazy waiting on the next book! feed my obsession! please!
