Last Day in NYC

This has been an incredible visit. So much cool stuff to report...

Last post I mentioned signing some books at the HBO store. After that went up, the store was overrun. All the signed books sold and people were still coming in. So HBO shipped me another big of books and I signed them too. The HBO shop should have autographed copies again... for a little while, at least...

And if that doesn't work, well, I also signed all the stock at the Barnes & Noble on 45th Street and 5th Avenue. Went by to pick up my own signed book... by Rex Ryan! Sadly, I did not get to meet the coach, but I did get his autograph on his new book.

Much more when I get home. And yes, that was me at THE BOOK OF MORMON last night. Fabulous show... and it turned out I had fans among the cast who invited me backstage after the performance... that was incredibly cool at well!

The show was a delight from start to finish, which is no more than I expected from the SOUTH PARK guys. Getting to meet some of amazingly talented cast... and learning that they were fans of my books... was surreal and wonderful.

Hold on, this is just the beginning) Gotta have more acclaim with that book of yours.

On the far left, that looks like Levar Burton. Okay....

You know you're going to have to sign more books. People cannot get enough. I'm reading Game of Thrones and find it an easy read. I can tell you have a TV writing background; it shows. Still, the books is fast paced and I am enjoying it thoroughly when I can get time during downloads/uploads to read.

Ya lucky SOB.

I just spent my lunch hour buying signed copies, so indeed there are a few left, from what I could see. The employees there were big fans of the books, it was nice chatting with them! Thank you for the head's up. Excited for my re-read.

That's great to hear about the Book of Mormon cast-- what a show they put on!

Hello George!!!

What about TV ratings?? Are they going ok??

Because of the show i'm re-reading Song of Ice and FIre for third time.

Congratulations from Spain!!!

Ratings for the first two shows were great. I haven't checked the numbers for the third.

First show had 2.2 million against the Knicks/Celtics. Second show did the same I don't know which basketball playoff game if any was on. Encores/repeats had pretty high numbers too.

Oh, so you and Parris both have to torture me with a pic of that beautiful jacket. Sigh.

It sounds like it's a new age for your signing hand George. I hope it has the strength and endurance!

GRRM, I just wanted to chime in and say that I love your acting as Robert Baratheon in the series. ;)

I'm sorry I'll miss you (though I know you don't have time to see me anyway) as I'll be reaching NYC myself on Friday morning.

Oh well. Safe travels! I'm glad it was such a great trip.

Wish you would come to TEXAS and sign some books!! NYC is too far... Loving the show so far, and can't wait for the new book : )

George, I just realized you and Rex Ryan both have tv shows on HBO. Pretty cool. Some people think GoT is HBO's new Sopranos (breakout hit). Some people think REx Ryan is HBO's new Tony Soprano.

Following you (george)
Since I started following you after reading GOT in 2000, Ive noticed how great you are to us fans. So down to earth and your so talented of a writer but your so much like us with loves of football and everyday stuff. I just want to say that you have been working really hard and Im hoping if you have a book tour for dance (????) that you come to Boston or New York. (I live in CT) But i know how busy you must be with your editing and you tv show but to still do things for us, the fans, is so great. There is so many stuck up pretenious writers for you to be touched that actors from broadway love your writing, its honestly modest and its rare nowadays. Im hearing more and more people that are interested in your work from the TV show and its good to see that you are still the same George even after rising and rising in fame. It makes me happy that your my favorite fiction author and have been for about 11 years now.

So cool!! :) And that's great that you're willing to sign all those copies for the HBO store and Barnes & Noble. I wish I lived closer to that area - I'd love to grab one up!

totes bought them all.
Yeah, I re-bought all four. You'll have to come back to NY for Dances' release or it'll feel like a plain-bellied sneetch.
