I may have been guilty of premature froggery in the "Hiya, Kids" post below.

Second season casting is in full swing, yes.

And we're close on a few roles. Choices made, that is to say, but now we wait on HBO approval, and then of course we have to make a deal. Not all deals close, much as you would like them to. There's budget to consider, scheduling, all sorts of things.

On other roles, well, we've seen a lot of readings, but we're not in love yet. So the auditions continue. In Ireland, in London, even in LA.

Bottom line: no one has been cast yet, so stop holding your breath.

When we do sign some new cast, Froggy will give you the hints.

(Unless someone else breaks the news first).

((Or unless it's after June 13. That's the day I leave for Poland. I'll be out of the loop while overseas, so after that date, the announcements are more like to come from elsewhere)).

Peter and I wanted to tell you that we are enjoying the series totally and look forward to the second season as well.

They did a good job filming the impossible.

Roy Dotrice
I sincerely hope you can find a spot for Roy Dotrice again. His amazing narration on the first three audiobooks is second to none. I was deeply disappointed to hear he had to be recast in this current season. Here's to hoping to see him in season 2!

You aren't holding open auditions in LA though, are you? All the websites I checked just say Ireland, London, and Malta, but if there are auditions in LA, I have a handsome and talented actor brother who would love to get that info. ;)

As a viewer, though, I am loving the series. :) It's a fantastic complement to the books!

Alas, we're not holding "open auditions" anywhere. All readings have to be arranged through our casting directors, who review hundreds of applications from agents and managers before making their determination as to who can come in and read. It's not an AMERICAN IDOL situation, where they just line 'em up and throw the doors open. Your handsome and talented actor brother would need to have his agent submit his resume and glossy to Nina Gold or one of her affiliates.

Thanks for that info, George! I will pass it along to him. :)

I'm really curious as to who would play Stannis and Melisandre in particular, but if the first season is any indication it'll be great.

I am so excited that you are visiting my home country!

It has been a rough couple of centuries for Poland but it is always beautiful and the people remain warmhearted and proud.

I hope you enjoy you trip. If your lovely wife is going with you, don't forget to take her to the flower market - there is one in every major urban center.

I love that you are so involved with the series. I think that's what makes it so wonderful.

Are you able to say anything as to when the first season will be out on DVD/Blu-ray? We were hoping we might have it in time for your visit to Boston. :)

you should play every character tbh i would be thrilled with that casting choice

How cool is it Peter David and his wife posted how they love the show? Very.

It's amazing to me I've read these books so many times and then I see an episode like tonight's and it somehow makes me hate Littlefinger even more! There's something to be said for that.

George, would you add Koenigsberg on your schedule? Pretty-pretty please with sugar on top! :) It's just 3 hours ride from Warsaw and I bet your Russian fans would offer very warm greeting!!!

I'm going to cross my fingers that Lily Allen gets to be Asha! Fangril-ly I know but I would LOVE it! (Asha is seriously duking it out with Dany and Lyanna for the spot as my favorite character.)

Dear George,

Please, tell us Brynden Tully will be in the new season! Its my favorite character in the books. :)

And we are glad to have you! I've waited quite a few years for this, and so have many others. It's nice that you may have some signing outside the festival, too. I won't have to drag a suitcase full of books with me... I hope ;)

I know the University of Warsaw's scifi&fantasy people would love if you could give a guest lecture, but we understand the schedule must be very tight... it's a pity though since no one is able to tell if you are ever going to visit again.

RE: Casting
After what I have seen so far this season I have complete faith in those in charge of casting for the show. They have been nothing short of phenomenal, especially given the number of characters with significant parts.

Schedule for visit in Poland
can You give us a schedule for Your visit in Poland? Where and when will we be able to see and talk to You?

Forget casting! LOCATIONS!
Dear Mr. Martin,

Congratulations on an excellent TV series, worthy of the books and that's saying a lot! Your books are by far my favourites amongst many, being a fan of Robert Jordan, Joe Abercrombie and Tad Williams as well, to name a few.
I've been nail-biting ever since earlier this winter when I heard Iceland was in the frame for "Clash of Kings"-locations. It'd be a dream come true, first dreamt as soon as I started reading the series years ago. You'll never find a better place to shoot scenes from beyond the wall, clear lagoons layered with icebergs, glaciers smoking or non-smoking, black sands seemingly without end, low midnight suns, boiling pools and geysers - YOU NAME IT!

PLEASE check out some scenery from there - I don't dare post anything here for fear of it being deleted as spam.

George, offtopic: I've watched "You win or you die" yesterday and found just a mega-LOL there.
Ned Stark hands Robert's last will scroll to Ser Barristan.
Barristan says something like "King Robert's seal is not damaged"
And then SLIDES the scroll out of the seal without breaking it!
