In Warsaw

I'm in Warsaw. Spent the morning doing interviews and a big press conference. Now I'm about to leave for a signing at the Traffic Club, whioh is actually a bookstore.

Getting here was somewhat of an ordeal. Our flight from Abluquerque to Chicago was an hour late, which resulted in us missing our connection, and the direct flight that would have gotten us into Poland yesetdray morning. Instead we had to cool our heels half a day in O'Hare and then go by way of London, with a change of planes in Heathrow. We got into Warsaw yesetrday evening instead, and had to go straight to a big HBO interview at a movie complex. There were several hundred fans there, an amazing turnout. Alas, I was too exhausted to sign books and had to go get some sleep... but I am about to make up for that at the Traffic Club.

Anyway, I'm fine (if tired) and glad to be here. (But my assistant Ty is sick as a dog. We're hoping he'll be better by tomorrow, when we leave Warsaw for the con in Ndiza).

Hi, this is not really a comment but a question. I will ask it here and hope someone knows the answer. Will Feast for crows be translated into swedish ? GoT, CoK and SoS has been translated but for some reason Feast has not. I myself read the english versions but my mothers english is not at that level so she needs to have the books translated.

As I would really love to come to your scheduled book-signing in Koper, could you please be more specific about the location? Thank you very much!

Re: Koper
please see my several comments on this post about what we do and do not know about the tour stops and plans for George's travels. Look at the 'appearances' page on George's website: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/appearances.html

then take some time as I've suggested before to others, and pursue more information on your own, since we don't have any more information to give you. Sorry, but sometimes the information we get is very detailed, other times it is very incomplete. When George is traveling, the schedule is set by the publishers, book stores, conventions, even whatever television service is showing the HBO series locally. Often before they leave we get 'schedules' that say "Interviews with local media - 10.00am - 1pm, following by a signing at a local bookstore from 2pm to 4 pm". That's all the information we have before the trip begins, and have no way to update it as they travel. You'll probably be able to get more information yourself if you make the effort. If you do find out more information that is confirmed by the event staff or website or publisher's office, you can put it up on local fan boards, or start a thread on Westeros or other site where you know that other GRRM fans tend to read in your country.

Safe journey on your travels sir...and enjoy Eastern Europe, Poland in particular, a great and beautiful country!

I'm waiting with with great anticipation but also anxiety this week's season finale!!!! I cannot believe that after so many years, twists and turns on the road, we have finally reached this point! I still have to pinch myself sometimes to remind myself how lucky and blessed we are for "A Song Of Ice And Fire" and the fact that HBO, D&D and the whole team and cast of this amazing TV series, have brought "Game Of Thrones" to reality!

This week-end I will most certainly get plastered and celebrate the finale of season one! I will drink to hopefully many more to come!

PS Don't worry I won't start a riot like those idiots out in Vancouver...LOL!

Boy oh boy.
If you have the time to waste on the series of tubes known as the internet, look around and check out all of the hilarious yet awe-inspiring reactions to the end of episode 9.

You are a hated man right now, but in the best possible way. You've officially pissed off everyone who likes their T.V. pre-packaged with a Charlie Sheen on top. Way to go!

And they'll ALL be watching next week. You know they will, no matter what they say.

O'Hare siege
If only we had known you were stuck at O'Hare. Your Chicago fans (myself included) could have laid siege to O'Hare and set up our own medieval book signing. Not sure how security would have reacted...

Regardless, enjoy your tour, I suppose we'll see you in 2012 at Chicon 7!

Hi Mr Martin,

I just want to say I'm tired of people complaining about how long it takes your books to be released. Personally, I would rather you spend the time to be happy or do whatever it is you do in order to write a good book. How many series have we all read that eventually become more about pumping out books rather than writing a good quality story? Many times I have found the first one or two books in a series to be gripping, and then get really boring and disappointing (notice how I'm not mentioning any names of recently highly anticipated sequels).

The thing about it all that annoys me is this- you are an author; that is merely your occupation, contract or no. First and foremost, you are a person. You have your own life to live, you are a very busy man and your fans should all remember that. Instead of getting angry at you for making me wait for A Dance With Dragons, I'd like to extend a sincere thank you for writing a quality series that I can feel excited about and confident recommending to friends. You write like no other and your books are worth waiting for. That being said, take care not to get hit by a bus, please.

The HBO miniseries is phenomenal! Your readers love it and I appreciate that people who don't really like to read also have a chance to experience this series. If I have ever read anything that I wanted to be made into a movie or miniseries, this is it. Emmys are deserved. Well done!

Get well wishes to Ty!
