Monday Night Football

Historically the Giants have usually sucked on Monday nights, so tonight's victory over Atlanta came as a relief. The Falcons are a wounded, troubled team, mind you, but even so, the G-Men scored a convincing win. For the first time all season, their offense and defense both showed up at the same game.

And congratulations to Amani Toomer, who broke one Giants all-time record tonight (Tiki Barber's record for receptions) and tied another one (Kyle Rote's touchdown mark). A class guy, and he's been a clutch receiver for a long time.

So the G-Men are 4-2... again. (They were 4-2 the last three seasons as well. They like to get our hopes up before they collapse and break our hearts in the second half of the season, but maybe this year will be different).

On other fronts, Parris is on the mend, even hobbling about the house without Father's crutch from time to time. We head down to Albuquerque tomorrow so she can get her stitches removed.

Congrats on the big win! It's nice that your Giants fared better than my Seahawks!

I agree our seahawks have gone into a spiral of doom

That game was a lot of fun to watch. They aren't my teams, but I had one flag flying for Atlanta, cause black uniforms are sweet and cause Harrington, though shit, was a big guy for Oregon; and the other cause I wanted a happy football post from you.

A lot of action, some awesome athletic plays, and some good emotion.

You may want to read the archived posts regarding his writing. They are pretty self explanatory...

And in other news, the Dolphins falls to 0-6. Glug. Hurricanes aren't so hot, either, but I'm getting used to this.

I think the Giants will take San Francisco, but I'm not sure on the Jets and Bengals to be honest.

The G's did great!

I know how having a bad leg can be. I'm all iced up myself. All my best to Parris.

best wishes to you and your lady. ^^

We live in Georgia where if you aren't a falcons fan or a Dawgs fan *gasp!* then you're CRAZY. Of course we aren't. My husband loves the Buckeyes and I like the buccaneers because they have a pirate ship. :) What can I say? I prefer Hockey. It holds my attention and I don't find myself cheering for the wrong team. Boy is THAT embarrassing. Maybe that's why my husband stopped taking me to football games.
YAY stitches out YAY!!!

Oh, I don't know. There's a pretty sizable Texas Longhorns contingent out here. But then, we're like roaches that way. We can happily congregate in any state and claim we're the best. :)

Being that I am a Giants fan living in GA I must tread carefully today at work. ;)

I agree 100% about Amani Toomer. A true class act.

Not to change the subject, but what was up with the Jet's uniforms on Saturday? I think they must have lost their actual duds in a washing mishap, so they had to borrow a local high school's old uniforms.

Can hardly blame them for losing.

Guess you've never heard of the one game a year all the teams get to play in their throwback jerseys from yesteryear? Its actually kind of fun when they switch it up for that one game...

I'm curious as to the meaning of the statement "Historically they have usually sucked on Monday nights." Not about what it means, but why would this be a factor they could control? It seems like a coincidence to me.

Sometimes I think Eli should just throw interceptions for the last play of every half just to get them out of his system. They could even design a play for it- up the middle, throw to an defender in the middle of three Giants. JUst a thought.

So, what does it say about either Toomer or the state of Giants' quarterbacking over recent years that he just now, as a WR who's been with NY for what seems like forever, is passing up a RB, even an exceptional one like Barber, for total receptions?

I love me the check-down pass like anyone, but... wow.
