Democracy in Action

Everybody and his mother-in-law are running polls these days, as year's end edges near.

So for those who enjoy casting ballots and voicing your opinion, here's a few places to make your voice heard.

GOODREADS is now on to the semifinals in its balloting for the best books of 2011. (A DANCE WITH DRAGONS is still contending, both in the fantasy category, and for book of the year).

Meanwhile, the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS has opened balloting for their 2012 awards. HBO's series GAME OF THRONES is contending in Best Cable Drama.

People's Choice has a zillion categories, so you can also vote for your favorite network shows, movies, music, etc.

And over at ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, they're picking the Entertainers of the Year, and it seems I am one of the candidates. (No one is more suprised at this than I am).

Vote early and often.

Also worth noting that the EW awards poll also includes Jason Momoa in the "Best New Face" category (apparently years on Baywatch and Stargate: Atlantis don't count) and Peter Dinklage in "Best TV Actor".

And Dinklage was apparently named Stud of the Year in GQ's year-end awards. The latest issue of GQ has a profile piece, which I think GQ will release on their website on December 6th. Told it's a good one.

I voted for Dance on Good Reads. Finally getting into it after having bought the book right after release. I found myself needing to stop and re-read the first four having not remembered them as clearly as I thought...and I'm glad I did though I need to say the book is worth the wait. Can't wait to get my hands on Winds of Winter.

Done. And good luck.
What I'm hoping to be able to participate in this coming year is the Hugo nominations and voting. You've got mine, of course.
