New Teaser

HBO rolled out a new teaser for the second season of GAME OF THRONES night before last, just before the season finale of BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

In case you missed it -- (as I did, watching the exciting finish of the Giants victory over the Cowboys) -- here you go:

The voiceover is by Stephen Dillane, who will be portraying Stannis Baratheon.

Oh yeah. Nice and ominous. :)

If Dillane's Stannis Baratheon is as thought-provoking as his Thomas Jefferson, then he's really gonna score some serious points for this show!

Not being familiar Stephen Dillane, I have to say that he *sounds* like I imagine Stannis would sound like. Although I've never thought of how he would sound, before.

He's not what I would have pictured Stanis being but much like Sean Bean as Eddard now that I've seen it I won't be able to read the books without thinking of the actor.

Thought this too. Even without the words themselves, he has a very Stannis voice.

The trailer is amazing. And the last part of it is perfect. Three horn blows people, you know what that means.

I didn't even realize that, had to watch it again to be sure. And you're right. @_@ The trailer's excellent, and little things like that just show how closely they're keeping to the books. Can't wait for this season.

The 3 horn blasts was awesome, I agree. But did that actually happen in book 2? I thought it was book 3, could be mistaken. Maybe that scene is something that got bumped up to season 2...

Stannis sounds amazing too, can't wait for more teasers/trailers/April!

Stephen Dillane? Come on! He's got way too much hair for Stannis. Without beard too!

Oh man. Stannis is one of the characters I've been waiting most to see in the TV series.

Of all the characters in the series, for some reason, all of my friends are Stannis. It makes parties very... difficult... at this time of year.

Great trailer - Stannis sounds wonderful - cold and hard and a bit OCD.

Congrats on your Giants kicking the shit out of the hated Cowboys!

Stannis & (OT) Shawn Speakman
Great teaser, although I can`t watch A Game of Thrones yet Dillane looks and sounds exactly like I imagined Stannis to be. I am looking forward to spring next year when the first season DVD is out on the shelves in Germany.

By the way, all over the net I find articles of a certain Shawn Speakman related to "Dance with Dragons" - apparently the established author of the "Dark Thorn"-trilogy. He seems to be well-informed about the "Ice and Fire"-series, but i did not find him or any of his works on Amazon though - have they run out of print ?

Re: Stannis & (OT) Shawn Speakman
Unfortunately, The Dark Thorn is sort of in an unpublished limbo, thanks to agents and publishers who wouldn't know a great work of fiction if it erupted under them like a Valyrian volcano.

The first five chapters used to be available online but have been removed as the galley is shopped around to various publishing houses.

Personally, I've always wondered why Mr. Speakman (a great defender of our favorite Ice and Fire/Wild Cards author) hasn't been published in one of Mr. Martin's wonderful anthologies. Maybe one day?

Can't wait! I'm near the end of the book series and have loved every minute of them.

Winter is coming.
