Super G-Men!!!!

Life is magical and full of joy!

What a game. What a bloody great game. THIS is what football is supposed to be like. Real smashmouth kickass old-fashioned duel to the death. DAMN but that 49ers defense played great. I don't think I have ever seen Eli take such a hammering, but he kept getting up and fighting on. And my man Cruz was magnificant as well... though the Niners obviously made adjustments at the half to clamp down on him, or else the win would have been much more lopsided.

The Giants D played great as well. They did not get nearly as many sacks on Alex Smith as I had expected/ hoped for, but they kept him under constant pressure, held Gore in check for the most part, and stifled the 49er receivers... well, except for those two times when Vernon Davis got loose.

But it was turnovers that won the game. Turnovers, and Big Blue's special teams. I never could have called that. Our special teams have been a weakness all years. Weatherford's a decent punter but not a great one. Ditto the Scottish Kicker (bad luck to say his name). And we get NOTHING on kickoff returns or punt returns. But it was the coverage teams, and the turnovers we got on those two punts, that made the difference in the end... and once again the Scottish Kicker came through! (My heart did stutter a little when we got that stupid delay-of-game penalty just before the FG attempt, adding five yards to the distance).

Who would ever have thought it? Not me, I admit. Not after that four game losing streak in mid-season and that dreadful December defeat by the Redskins. But then something funny happened. The Real Giants showed up.

So now we're off to Indy, and a rematch of SuperBowl XLII with the Patriots and Evil Little Bill. Why, it's like an epic fantasy... the heroes from NYC against the Dark Lord and his minions.

But that's two weeks away. Right now, I'll just enjoy the win. And hats off to the 49ers too. They had a great season, and Jim Harbaugh deserves all the credit in the world for turning that team around. I think they will be contenders for years to come.

GRRM - I wanted you to know that on Superbowl Sunday there will be a rivalry going in our house because I will be cheering your Giants (I'm very excited on your behalf that they won) but my grieving husband will be rooting for the Pats because your Giants beat our beloved Green Bay Packers, and he just can't forgive. If it comes to blows, I'm going to blame you.

Just kidding. In our house we battle with swords, not fists.

Go Giants!!

Happy for the Giants/Eli Manning. Gotta love those Ole Miss boys. :)

Get Gronk'd in the Superbowl!
Bill Belichick may be an evil genius, if there ever was one in the magnificent world of football, but he deserves all the credit you can possibly give. He and Tom Brady take sub par players and turn them into legends. Tom, Wes and our amazing Tight Ends will whup some giant ass. Do yourselfs a favor, Giants-fans... don't even expect it to be close!

Seriously, who would have thought the Giants that played some pretty poor games this year would be back in the Superbowl. I didn't.
Tough weekend to be a Harbaugh.

Go Pats!
It's rematch time!!! This time the Pats will triumph!

it is especially lovely that you, sir, are noting the giants as good guys and the patriots as bad guys. (here's to a manning winning another superbowl!)

We get a new sample chapter if the Giants win the Super Bowl, right?

You wish.

But probably not.

You would never know this but after having been a Giants fan all my life and becoming an ASOIAF fan, I can no longer think of them without thinking of you. Long after this series is all said and done, I believe the link will remain. I mean come on, Wun Wun. I'm doomed.

Loved the sample if the Giants win idea. Oh well :(

I am a die hard Packer fan, but I think the G Men are going to take this one. There's "Good Eli" and "weird Eli", and since the Dallas game the badass Eli has showed up. Giants have a better D line as well, receivers are even, secondaries even.

And just let me echo the requests for a new sample Winds chapter if the Giants win! How about, umm, if they win by 21 or more? Puh-leeeeze :-) Just a map? A sketch??

George, I think you deserve it. Splurge. Cancel meetings and everything else. Buy tickets and go to the game. Sort of a reward for a kickass year.

The Revenge Tour
The Pats are beating those teams that beat them in the post season: Denver, Baltimore ...... next up the Giants.
The force (MHK) is also with them. She pushed that kick wide.

The Pats are coming and they will not be denied.

Go Giants
So I sat there in my 49ers shirt next to my (soon to be smug) mate in his Giants shirt and we stayed up until stupid o'clock to watch the game.

I could whinge at length about how the 49ers threw a game that was theirs for the taking but life is too short. It might not be another 9 years until they are there again.

In a fortnights time we will have our usual superbowl gathering and will all root for the Giants (anyone but New England).

Go Giants

Winter is Here
Winter is Coming and wouldn't you know,
The Patriots play great in the snow!!!...

Unfortunately Lucas Oil Stadium is a dome, sort of... Oh, I I just remember to make a spell, ahem: Until the ASoIaF series is completed AND released- the New York Jets will never win the Superbowl!!!

If you are wondering why I didn't say Giants it is because it is not fair to make that after they have reached the Superbowl, plus I can only do that to one team and I hate the Jets. GO PATRIOTS!

I refuse to type in that coupon code for a discount on signed books. Go Pats!!!!

Go Blue!
I'm also a huge Giants fan. I was listening to WFAN here in NY and a question was posed about when in the '07 season and when in the current season did you first think that the Giants could go all the way to the promise land.
My response is that for the '07 season the time that I thought that the G-Men could go all the way was the final regular season game against the Pats when the Giants had absolutely nothing to play for and nearly beat the unbeaten Patriots.
My answer for the current season is when Vernon Davis caught his final TD against the Saints. I knew that the Giants had a decent chance of beating SF, but they never match up well against the Saints particularly not in the Super Dome.
Wondering if you agree or disagree. Anyway GO BLUE!!!!

PS I'm still a little worried about the asteroid strike coming.
