Your wait is almost over. Within the week you can own the first season of HBO's GAME OF THRONES for yourself. DVDs and Blu-Rays of season one are now available for pre-order, and will be shipping on Tuesday, March 6. No wonder they're calling it Super Tuesday!

Here's a taste of the extras that you will be getting with the Blu-Rays and DVDs, a small portion of my own commentary from Episode 8, "The Pointy End."

You can purchase your own copy of the Blu Ray or DVD set of Season One, (including more commentary tracks from many of the people who worked on the show) from your favorite on-line retailer, or directly from the HBO Store.

DVD:

I've seen both DVD and Blu-Ray. The DVD is immensely cool, and the Blu-Ray is cooler. Incredible HD picture and sound, and the 'extras' are amazing. My favorites are the wonderfully drawn sidebars about Westerosi history, read by cast members and written by the multi-talented Brian Cogman. And somewhere on the Blu-Rays there are buried dragon eggs as well, though I haven't found any yet (no, DON'T TELL, I want to find 'em for myself, the hunt is half the fun).

So go ye forth and grab a set or three, and let's see if we can surprise and delight and astonish HBO and the industry with the number of DVDS sold on day one!

Excited!
Living in a non-HBO household, I'm excited to finally get the DVD set next week! I'm looking forward to sharing it with my wife, too, since she only knows the series as "those really long books you read." I especially can't wait to see her face during some of the season's ... surprises.

Re: Excited!
Be warned: my wife did NOT enjoy being surprised during certain moments, and still holds it against me!

Re: Excited!
Yay, me too! I'm also still waiting for my husband to finish Game of Thrones already so we can talk spoilers. ;) It will be a happy happy day when that package arrives!

My TV is probably going to heat so much because I won't stop watching the DVD. I simply can't wait for the release of it. It will be a great way to spend time until Season 2 premieres!
Now that I have heard how the calling of the banners was written by Mr. Martin, I can't stop imagining how it would have been on screen. It would be fantastic, epic, but I understand there has to be "limits". Really thank you for sharing this video!!! :)

What a steal!
Amazon has the bluray priced at $34.99...that is a steal in my opinion. I remember paying double that for The Sopranos back in the day.

Looking forward to the blu-ray - especially the Best Buy edition. I've been spreading the word, "March 6 is Coming!" frequently..

Pretty excited
I'm pretty stoked about this finally getting a home release. I don't have cable and have a hard time justifying it for just one channel (especially when that channel is HBO which requires a premium package), so I haven't seen any episodes but the first one. I really wish HBO would allow people to subscribe to HBO GO without a cable subscription. I'd sign up for it in a heartbeat.

Anyway, really excited to finally get to experience the show. I can at last share the story with my wife (she's not a big reader, so the books are a little daunting for her). With this and ME3 getting released, March 6th will be a day to long remember.

calling the banners
I am so happy you are working on the show too and hope all your wonderful books are going to be filmed. I would love to see all of the amazing world you put in my head with my own eyes. -And boy would the 'calling-of-the-banners' scene have been awesome. More luck next time. Your Fan always, Jennifer

can't wait
Preordered my blu-ray set a few weeks back. I can't wait to have a full marathon in HD and watch all the loads of bonus material. Hunting for the hidden "dragon eggs" will be fun as well.

This will certainly be an appetizer to tide us all over until the main course begins on April 1st. Can't wait!

I'd love to get the blu-ray on day one, but $65 CND is way out of line with the $35 USD price (amazon.ca vs amazon.com) considering our currency is near par. Sorry GRRM.

Can you not just order it from Amazon US? I know I have ordered items from Amazon.ca when they are cheaper and had them shipped down here...

Already ordered the Blu-Ray, and convinced two other people to order it as well. I almost canceled my order with Amazon to get the special Stark edition from Best Buy, but Amazon Prime won out.

I've turned so many people into diehard fans of this show. I try for the books as well, but it's a lot easier to get someone to watch a season of an HBO show than get started on a loonnnnng collection of books. I just ordered the whole set of books though for a relative who has been promising forever to read them...now she'll have no excuse! :D

Can't wait to find the dragon eggs! March 6 can't get here fast enough...

I have found that once I get people to watch the show then they are willing to read the books. Worked on 4 so far who did not read them before the show despite (in some cases) years of my trying. Love how much it is catching with everyone.
