Regarding reviews...back in 1998 I was the person who wrote the review of Quake 2: Ground Zero for Gamespy. Back then it seemed that everyone simply found someone that had the most burning desire for the game...and the most experience in that genre...and asked them to write a review.

But, now it's a big business and there have been people fired for writing poor reviews as well as legal incidents regarding "gifts" and such from publishers to gaming magazines. Don't trust any review from a magazine which you have to purchase...buy the mag if you want more info, but keep an objective perspective. And, never base your purchases on the metacritic or any numerical rating...it's just a marketing tool...the higher numbers are reserved for AAA titles which they have been told will need a high rating during the same release season as other titles which they have been told can't have a higher number as the designated AAA titles. This information was leaked to us by an employee who was fired for not following the "recommended" rating levels.

If you really enjoy G.R.R.M's works and he has authorized the game then do buy it when it first comes out and enjoy being in Westeros. If you are a gamer and not sure if it will be fun with your gaming style then you might want to wait until it comes out and check the gaming forums to see what everyone says. A good forum to visit is the Steam Community forums.

Yeah, STEAM and friends is the way to go...
hacknslash is treated like crap in the media. its like a classical music composer reviews punk music. what do you expect? Why even do the review?
I like mindless violence and action sometimes, yet i'm not supposed to according to these "reviewers". They keep attacking hacknslash genre and action-rpg's yet never understand why these games keep selling.
