No News Is ... No News

Lately I've been getting a lot of emails asking me for the latest news about HBO and their prospective adaptation of A GAME OF THRONES.

I appreciate the interest, really, but there is no news. No good news. No bad news. No news of any sort. With much of Hollywood presently shut down because of the writer's strike, I can't even say when there will be news.

I try to keep my fans and readers updated on everything that's happening -- with this and with all my other projects -- here on my Not-A-Blog, and on the News page of my website. If there was any news worth reporting, you'd read it there. Honest.

Meantime, check out this YouTube video that was recently brought to my attention:

No, it's not from HBO, it's not for an actual film. It's a labor of love that one of my readers put together, all unbeknownest to me, using clips from other films. It's really cool, however. I don't know about you guys, but I'd buy a ticket.

Rome's been cancelled so....
The reason given was a lack of interest.

If that most excellent of series was scrapped I now have my doubts this will see HBO. It's all about profits and once burned... Maybe SciFi will pick it up once HBO's time with it is up. They have a time limit, right?

As for the video; the more comments and interest it generates won't hurt. Job well done.

That's a kick-ass video, I'd definitely go see it too.

And it excites me for something that may not happen. Good luck with getting news from HBO about the adaptation.

Geez, I would have bought one too. Makes me all nostalgic and craving for one real good Ice and Fire movie now. Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing. ;)

KEVIN McKIDD is now available....
... thanks to the unfortunate demise of Journeyman. If anyone saw HBO's ROME you know in your heart that Kevin McKidd must star in A Song of Ice and Fire. What role? Not sure on that... Ned maybe?

Oh yeah, he should be in.

mmmm. Not Ned, not soul-weary enough. Ned always struck me as though a chunk of himself was buried in the catacombs, I don't know if McKidd could carry that much depression convincingly. But he's in, totally and forever.

I think GRRM fans could easily present HBO with a script, a trailer, and a casting list for the series. :)

Though it would be unfair to the striking writers.

Lets take action
Instead of moaning about the fact that HBO is slow, that Dance is not finished, that the writers are striking etc. etc. I suggest to take action instead.

Media companies are remarkably sensitive to customer/viewer comments. Especially customer comments in reasonably large numbers. This is because the media companies assume that for every person who bothers to write, there are 1000nds lurking who do not make the effort to write.

If HBO gets a substantial number of emails asking them about the series, they WILL pay attention and the project will go to the top of the pile once the strike os over.

So lets stat a campaign to write it. Here is a link that seems a good place to go. If you are currently subscribing why don't you mention that one of the reason you are subscribing is this series. That will get their attention as well...
