News from Brasil
Mr. Martin, we here in Brazil we are also very happy because the publisher Leya, has just released (in our language) the same novel and a collection of short stories - Strange Streets - with pre-sales of the Portuguese version of Dance with Dragons. I hope more readers will fall for their texts with me and my friends.

Game of Thrones Season 2

This is totally unrelated but I don't know any other way of posting this...i have loved the HBO series and was really happy about how true to the books the episode have been...expect for episodes 6 and 7 of season two...Just wondering why so much was changed for the TV...it didn't seem necessary and to be honest i was actually angry watching the episodes...I'm only complaining because i am such a huge fan of the books and was honestly really disappointed.

Perhaps one of my favorites of your early works; very sad and I could not wait to see what ultimately happened. I saw Lars von Triar's Melancholia and was instantly reminded of Dying of the Light four the rogue planet similarities.

Hi George!

I hope you are ready for your trip to Missoula! Rattlesnake Park is a good place to visit while you are there if you have the time. That's especially true in May when the weather is nice. I don't know if you are a big fan of the outdoors but Montana in May is nice. You should do your signing outside! I'd love to go but have other commitments.

About the book, is the picture of the cover the one that will actually be used? Not to be a Critical Carole or anything but it looks slightly washed out? I have not read the book (yet!) so maybe the lack of light on the planet is reflected in the fuzzy cover art?

Probably just me, but your book's title brings to mind Concrete Blonde's "Darkening of the Light" from the album, Bloodletting; a somber counterpoint to track six, "Days and Days". If you ever need someone to compile the soundtrack for your next venture, I know all the cool songs.

Amazing cover!
This cover is outstanding. Never read this one, but will add it to my list. Thanks for your ASOIAF series, and please take your time George. While I'm sure I'll drop whatever I'm reading when Winds comes out, for now I have a TON of books on my "to read" list, and catching up is damn near impossible. I love the world you've created, and can't wait for you to completely destroy all my predictions...and also, ENJOY your time writing rather than focus on all the pressure coming from "those who can't wait". There are tons of books out there, and now, your HBO series to hold them off. And for those who want to re-read any of the novels, please check out the audio formats performed by Roy Dotrice. You WON'T regret it. With George's writing and Dotrice's performance, it's like you're there in Westeros listening in. COOLEST. EXPERIENCE. EVER.

There is no slipcase for Dying of the Light
Which is sad as the other GRRM limiteds from SubPress has slipcases. It would be great to see one added as it will look a little odd next to the GRRM limiteds from SubPress that do have the slipcases.

I was overjoyed to see "Dying of the Light" would be offered in this LE format - I have an old paperback, dogeared, waterstained copy of this book that I have owned for many years and which has survived many rereads (Dirk and Gwen's story just never gets old)and I hope to snag one of these!!!

As an aside will "A Song for Lya: and other stories" ever be released in a hardcover LE. I have only ever been able to find it in paperback? Was a handcover edition ever published? My fav is "Dark, Dark Were the Tunnels"!!! Must needs this for my collection!!

Keep up the good work Mr. M - hoping to meet you and the Mrs. at Chicon and raise a glass in celebration of your much deserved HUGO!

A SONG FOR LYA was a paperback original.

No plans for a new edition of that one, limited or otherwise. The RRetrospective (aka DREAMSONGS) includes all the best stuff from that and my other early, out-of-print collections.
