Alfred E. Baratheon

And you thought Robert was a bad king!

Mad Magazine

No, there is not an English language version. The American MAD has yet to tackle GOT.

LOL, under the price tag, it says "Cheapper than a Lannister debt"

GoT Mad style?
Huh. Used to be a huge Mad fan when I was a kid. Never once considered the likelihood that they did different issues for other countries.

Shame the American version hasn't tackled GoT yet. You'd think they're at least hash out a quick two or three page parody where every panel has a background gag of some obscured couple banging in the bushes, or behind a curtain, etc, etc.

At least a Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions Westeros edition.

"King Joffrey, is it true that you're a bastard?"

"No, my dad accidentally baptized me in bleach."
"No, my uncle simply tripped and fell on top of my mother, repeatedly."
"No, I'm actually ordering your torture and execution for your insolence as a joke."

Bonus snap: "Hey Thoros of Myr, does that flaming sword mean you're a red priest?"
"No, I just carry around this thing because it's bloody cold at night."

What me conquer Westeros?

What, Me Worry?
This is great! I grew up reading Mad Magazine. I'd love to see what they'd do with "A Song Of Ice & Fire". Talk about the "Mad" King!!! Wasn't there an A.E. Targaryen back somewhere in the line?

Alfred is invading the bathrooms of his enemies to steal their plungers, eh? That's more than a little disturbing.

Huh. I guess "throne" has a double meaning in Spanish, too.

It's Portuguese
It's actually Brazilian Portuguese. But clever of you to notice the double meaning.
Oct. 18th, 2012 10:05 pm (UTC)
That is amazingly awesome. The plungers give it such a special touch.

I love Mad Magazine.

What, me worry? :p
Oct. 19th, 2012 12:38 am (UTC)
Brazilian version? How the hell I didn't know about this? Gotta buy one.
Oct. 19th, 2012 12:53 am (UTC)
oh I love this... I wish I could own it! Of course I grew up loving Mad Magazine, and I see this as a good thing

In the words of George Takei ...

Oh, my.
Oct. 19th, 2012 02:57 am (UTC)
I think it won't be long given your fan base.

I hope you are well.

Oct. 19th, 2012 03:22 am (UTC)
ok, Hugos, 52+ weeks an NYT best-seller . . .
But the cover of MAD?! Now you've made it.
Oct. 19th, 2012 04:34 am (UTC)
Ah, if only Kelly Freas had still been alive to draw that. It's clever anyways, whoever did it.

It reads

"Hell is coming in this MAD"

"We show the stinky side of Game of thrones"

I wish I could buy it but I think it's only sold on Brasil.

Re: hehehe
Just so everyone gets the "Hell is coming" pun, in Portuguese "inferno" ("hell") sounds a lot like "inverno" ("winter").

I think it's Portuguse but Spanish is not, for sure (I'm Mexican) and although I don't buy the magazine becuase I'm not interested in reading it, but I haven't seen it or If do no say wrong, I think I saw one of Game of Thrones in Spanish last time I went to a magazine shop, but well whatever, I always look to the covers, they make me laugh like this cover. And yes it's a little disgusting but funny in sort some of way.

Re: Opinion...
Yes, it's Brazilian ;)
Oct. 19th, 2012 04:52 pm (UTC)
Ha ha ha!
Classic...hardly knew they even still made Mad magazine (thankful they do). Used to be a big fan back in the 80's. Hard to believe that the US edition have not done a GoT themed issue yet. What are they waiting on?

You could have said "And you thought Aerys was the 'mad' king!"
Tim Dorsey

So what does the picture fold into? Didn't all the mad mag covers have that dual cover photo?
Oct. 20th, 2012 10:27 am (UTC)
The fold-in isn't the front cover of Mad. In the US edition, at least, it's the inside back cover, and it's always drawn by Al Jaffee, who has a distinctly different art style from this.

Alfred Baratheon
Love it!!
Oct. 20th, 2012 04:50 am (UTC)
It's times like this I wished I spoke Spanish.
Oct. 20th, 2012 04:52 am (UTC)
Wouldn't help you. The MAD is Brazilian.
Oct. 21st, 2012 11:54 pm (UTC)
In this case, I think portuguese would be a tad more helpful.
