Take Me Out to the Ball Game

The Seven Kingdoms as baseball teams...

As a long-suffering Mets fan, the one about them made me winch

Baseball in Westeros is, of course, much different. The ball is a severed head.

House Stark = Boston Red Sox. Winter is Coming/The Offseason is coming too fast, the house has kind of fallen apart, Farrell is chasing crows in his dreams and we still don't know where the heck Rickon is.

House Detroit Tigers would be House Detroit Tigers. Detroit would be a home for the Brotherhood Without Banners. (Case in Point: see Jose Valverde)

Good luck to your Jets in the draft today. For many teams, like Detroit, today is as good as it gets.

House Arryn- Toronto Blue Jays, everyone keeps wondering when they are going to show up.... and they never do. Also the whole blue bird thing works well!

As an Angels fan it definitely seems that our horses are rather lame if not just plain dead.

So baseball in Westeros is like golf in Middle Earth. Makes sense.

Baseball, the Iron Throne & NFL draft
Thanks for this post! I can't believe I haven't seen this yet. I love the Cardinals choice for the Starks, but I'm biased. As a Missouri alum, I'm curious about your take on the Jets draft choices and in particular, Sheldon Richardson.

I disagreed with every one of the comparisons. I don't think the powers of Ice and Fire lend well to baseball team comparisons.

Dear Mr Martin

Like everyone, i'm a great fan of your saga. Especially because it's full of politics and with few manicheism.

But alas for me, if I can read english subtitles, I'm unable to listen english speaking.

And on the dvd sailed in France, the bonus of actors commentaries of episodes -kind of bonus I LOOOOVE to hear-, there is no subtitles at all.

I don't know if you can help poor french people, but I don't know what to do to have subtitles on those bonus, except writing to you, like bootle in the ocean.

Health and Love to you
with my great admiration

Lets go Mets
I couldn't believe when I saw you are a Mets fan! I've been a fan of yours for many, many years... my librarian recommended Game of Thrones to me before it was released :)
My Dad took me to the first Mets home game when I was five years old. I've been suffering with them ever since. Biggest in-person thrill there was probably seeing Johan Santana pitch that shut out the 2nd to last day of the season in 2008. He was amazing... that stadium was rocking.

However, I have great news for you - I'm being relocated to Silicon Valley, so next year the new young pitchers will come up, we'll get a couple of new outfielders, Valdespin will start fielding as well as he hits pinch hit home runs, David will actually hit well from day one - AND still hit 30+ home runs, D'Arnaud will stay healthy all year and Harvey will win the Cy Young. Oh, and they'll open 4 more windows at the shake shack ;-)
(Now if I could only figure out how to get new owners.....)

Let me know if you ever want to catch a game! I still think it's a super nice stadium - when I took my 94 year old Dad, they let me park right outside the rotunda so he wouldn't have to walk far (I had just asked if I could drop him off). Pretty classy...
