Round two of the NFL Draft kicks off in about an hour. Rumors are flying on the sports sites that the Jets are trying to trade up from the seventh slot to draft a QB. Boy, I sure hope not. None of the QBs available this year impress me as being much of an upgrade over Sanchez and Garrard. Maybe if one fell into their laps in, say, the third round... but in the second? When the team desperately needs help at so many positions? And trading UP to get him, which means giving up a lower round pick? That would be as foolish as trading away Revis.
The Jets flourished when Rex could run a ground-and-pound O. They have lost Shonn Greene, their starting RB. They should stay where they are and take the RB out of Alabama if he's still there at seven.
And don't get me started on the first round picks. All the mock drafts had the Jets getting Mingo and Austin at #9 and #13 in the first round. Wrong and wrong. The Browns took Mingo, and the the Rams traded up into the #8 slot ahead of the Jets to get Tavon. Once more, another team drank our milkshake.
Let us not compound the problems by chasing any of these QBs. Not one of them is a sure thing. Give me Eddie Lacy instead, and bring back the ground-and-pound. Sanchez plays best with play action, and that requires a strong ground game.

He seems to be a good guard. I hope he'll be the next Snee.
The Jets do need some kind of help on Offense. I don't get how Rex is supposed to be some hot shot defensive coach but they didn't go for O at all on day 1. Maybe so he has no excuses when they go to fire him next season?
Seriously thought the Jets would taken Fluker after Austin was off the board. Rex made it no secret they were eyeing up Austing.
Could have followed up and taken Desmond Trufont at 13 and it really not being a reach.
Just my opinion.
Lacy would be a great pick for you guys.
I'm an Eagles fan, pretty happy with our pick. He should fit what Chip Kelly likes to do.
Core of the Jets is where they have to focus. That means selecting guys who won't get the cheers on draft day, but are critical on Sundays. The Jets two first round picks seemed to follow that philosophy. Milliner isn't Revis, and no one should be pretending he is, but he's pretty solid. I happen to think they got a pretty decent d-lineman.
Jets should stay put. There's good value in this round at a ton of positions. Trading up would be a mistake.
No one to throw the ball to, though. No one to run the ball.
But we have five QBs. Sanchez, Garrard, McElroy, Tebow, and now Geno. Wait till Rex unveils his revolutionary five QB offense!

I would have thought after Austin was gone that Fluker would have been the Jets pick. Follow by Desmond Trufont at 13.
But now this bomb with Geno Smith in the 2nd. Wow!
You rebuild this year, you take a QB next year. Plain and simple.
