In Memoriam

For those of you who were not able to come to San Diego for Comicon... or get into Hall H for the GAME OF THRONES panel... here's the video that kicked off the proceedings, a tribute to all those we have loved (or not) and lost during the first three seasons of the show.

Seen all together like that, it does make me seem rather a bloody bastard, doesn't it?

In my own (feeble) defense, however, let me point out that Irri, Rakharo, the Thirteen of Qarth, Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Mago (not seen in the video), and Pyat Pree are all still alive and well (more or less) in the books as of the end of A DANCE WITH DRAGONS.  Like the guys in Spinal Tap, David and Dan do like to turn things up to 11.

Robb's wife is alive in the novels too, but Jeyne Westerling is an entirely different person than Talisa Maegyr with an entirely different fate.  Ros does not exist in the books, but of the characters she replaced, Kyra is dead, but Chataya and Alayaya are still around.

As to where we go from here... season four is coming, and no one is safe on GAME OF THRONES.

Not even those who you think might be safe for another book or two, from reading my novels.

Hello George! greetings from russia

I would like to ask a question. I didn't found an answer so maybe you could - If there was a House of Martin in Westeros what it would be like? What would be pictured on a house banner? And which major house it would serve?

Jeyne Westerling
I thought that with the dead of talisa in the series, the character of jayne westerling would not appear any more in the book...but the sentence "entirely different fate" makes me wonder about it.

PD: I don´t think you´re a bloody bastard... but there are so many of them in the books....

The Hardest

After the Red Wedding who was the hardest character to kill off? I'm assuming Ned, but I guess I could be wrong? Keep up the great work!

thank you!)))

Just please don't kill Hodor! :P

Jeyne Westerling's fate is something everyone loves to theorize, especially if she has a baby or not. Speculation which died down after Talisa died in the RW I think now will restart with vigour!

Thank you for posting the video as I am one of the many unfortunate one who could not be at SDCC

Wow, great stuff. Thanks for Westeros Mr. Martin. It truly is an extrordinary world, and I have had an entirely awesome time reveling in it.

Is it my own wishful thinking, or is Syrio not in there?

You killed all the good guys
First sorry for my poor engilsh...
Your defense is even feebler becuase you killed some of the most beloved characters, so keeping Irri and the rest alive doesn't make out for it.
But I still think that the fact that your books are so fucking sad works at both sides, because its so terribly sad its also heart-touching and... well wonderful.

I know you don't have the time to read this but I opened this user only to contect you because I just had to share my love to your books... well to write it all will take some hours so I just want to say these are the best books I've ever read in any measure, I just can't explain it in a few words.

Well, thats about it. Didn't really manage to write what I intended to write but thats should do...

P.S - Nothing will make me happier than Jaime Lannister be remembered as Golden Hand the Good (well after you killed Ned and Robb and the rest) :D
Thanks for being awesome!

Thats what makes them special
But that is what makes it brilliant. In a world where no-one important dies, there can be no fear, with no fear there is no concern, without concern we cannot appreciate how much we care for a character. I love your books because you kill off favorites, twist people into bad guys and redeem those we hate. It must take alot of bravery to kill off characters people love. Westeros is more realistic than most books I have read, despite the dragons.

Say it ain't so...
Oh great and powerful GRRM- please tell us they spare him. Please tell us his death is not imminent. Our great hero needs to be around for the reckoning of the series. He is the thread that binds the lands of Westeros and Esteros. The lion of King's Landing. The Champion of the Free Peoples.

Please tell us they'll spare Hot Pie?
