The Red Wedding shocked me! I wasn't expecting it at all. I've only read the first book so far, so I'm curious how those who've read the books were shocked when they saw the show.

Taking "Rules" as a noun instead of a verb, here ...
That would be damned scary, getting a party invitation with the declaration Red Wedding Rules in it ...

Going With My Gut here
In the last two years, the top three most emotion episodes in a drama were:

1.) Ozymandias: It was a series of Red Weddings for everyone involved in Breaking Bad and because the BB universe is so much smaller than GOT's, it had more impact. In GOT, some major players died gruesome deaths at the Red Wedding but the Game pretty much rolls on because it is so expansive.

2.) Blackwater: This is my favorite GOT episode thus far. The Cersei and Sansa exchanges, Tyrion's courage, Tywin's triumph and Wild Fire were the perfect combination.

3.) Rains of Castamere: Obviously it had a powerful finish but I am judging each episode holistically.
