Season One...

 ... is done.

Last night at the Cocteau we completed our screening of season one of GAME OF THRONES, with the showing of "Baelor" and "Fire and Blood."  Believe it or not, we had a dozen virgins in the house, folks who had never seen the show before, never read the books, and had no idea what was coming.  It's always cool to see someone experiencing the series for the first time.

I, of course, have read the books and seen the show... but I hadn't watched these particular episodes for a couple of years, and it was very gratifying to see how well they still held up.  David and Dan and the cast and our incredible crew have done an amazing job.

And speaking of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, they joined us after the episodes for an hour's worth of Q & A with the fans, via Skype.   Aside from the usual technical problems that we encounter every time we try to use Skype, it was a great time.  Thanks, guys.

Next week, the marathon continues with the first three episodes from season two... and a special Skype visit from our very own Sansa, SOPHIE TURNER.

See you at the cinema!

Success in style
What you have done with the Cocteau is such a wonderful reflection of your success. I will always think of you as someone who does things on your own terms, even how you enjoy your spoils. "Keep waiting they will bring a bigger truck!" I am interested in a weekend trip to the area. Is there lodging close to the theater? Do people camp often in certain seasons in Sante Fe? Im considering getting my motorcycle ready for the trip from Seattle. Also without knowledge of such things, will you be doing event type showings of various blockbusters? I do not have knowledge of such things, but a Star Wars marathon would hold particular grandeur. Thank you for being accessible, GRRM. You are my hero.

Blockbusters are not necessarily easy for a small independent theatre to get. The big chains with their multiplexes have those pretty well locked up.

I would not recommend camping in Santa Fe in winter. It can get bitter cold here. Last night, for instance.

The Hotel Santa Fe is just two blocks from the Cocteau. A very nice hotel, owned and operated by a local Indian tribe, with reasonable rates. All our guests stay there when doing events at the theatre.
