Aegon Is Coming...

 ... tomorrow morning.

We're putting up a sample from THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE on my website, to join the samples from the next Wild Cards book (LOWBALL) and of course from WINDS OF WINTER (Mercy).  It's a short excerpt from the section of Aegon's Conquest, complete with some kickass art.

And by the way, those of you who read only this Live Journal  -- and there are a lot of you -- should check out my actual website some time.  There's loads of interesting material there, from news stories to biography and bibliography and sections on my toy knights.

Anyway, do hope you all enjoy the Aegon piece.  It will be up on the morrow.

Yay, thank you so much! I am so looking forward to the World of Ice and Fire. It's definitely on my priority to buy list. Tempted to go preorder it right now as Amazon UK has it on sale.

Also, I wanted to ask if you had any comments on Stannis as compared to the Duke of Wellington? His northern campaign is of course reminiscent of Napoleon's Russian campaign but in terms of personality Stannis puts me very much in mind of the Iron Duke himself. I wondered if any of that is intentional?

I am really excited for World of Ice and Fire. I worked at a Barnes and Noble when Dangerous Women came out and immediately began recommending it for customers who were buying ASOIAF. Try not to forget to smell the roses, GRRM. After all, they're growing strong. Face palm.

The gift that keeps on giving
This is monstrous good news, and will give me something to read and digest over Easter. Thanks GRRM!

oooh, more Targ goodness!

I check your site on occasion, but not as frequently as your (Not a ) Blog. Your section on toy knights inspired me to help plan battles in my own series by digging out some of my '90s Castle soldiers and knights. It's one thing to think of it, but as a model storyboard to help visualization positioning, it helps quite a bit.

Toy Knights
The toy knight section is great - always an insperation and gives me an excuse to buy more.

Always look forward to new additions.

My collection runs from old plastic Marx to the newest pre-paints - just buy what I like.

Plenty of wargame figures too...

The Vale
I hope they go into more detail at the Vale. It's been so long since we've heard about the happenings at the Vale.

Bookmarked the website
I admit, I am guilty of coming here and rarely going to the site. But I've now bookmarked the site and placed it on my quick-bar, which will motivate me to check it out more.

Also, AWESOME! Ever since watching ComicBookGirl19's ASOIAF history videos, I've been obsessed with Aegon's Conquest. Bring it on. My body is ready.

More History the Show Should Use
I loved the sequence of Bran's visions this Sunday. The dragon shadow cast over Kings Landing was especially nice, a haunting flashback or perhaps an image of the future.

Many fans like myself would love to see a few episodes open up with a pre-credit flashback of major or minor events that would serve as a history lesson but mainly a bit of foreshadowing to the episode itself.
