Shade of the evening
George, why do the warlocks drink shade of the evening? Is it necessary in order to perform magic or is the purpose related to visions alone?

Re: Shade of the evening
I know the question is for George, but as a fan I've pondered this, and in the end I now regard the drink's use as purely recreational. Daenerys is required to drink it before entering the House Of The Undying for doctrinaire reasons of tradition and religious practice, but I think the warlocks wanted to drug her so it could be said that her hallucinations were in fact predicitons or prophecies... or perhaps the warlocks drugged her for their own amusement. In any case, it doesn't have any more "magic" than LSD or shrooms in my opinion.

That seems unsatisfactory because so many of her visions did turn out to be prophetic. It also does not sound like much fun...
