Simonetti Art Book

Marc Simonetti, the amazing French artist who has done so many great covers for both A SONG OF ICE & FIRE and WILD CARDS, is trying to raise funding for a book of his art.

I know there's a lot of Simonetti fans out there.  If you'd like to help, check out:

Simonetti's work
It is very nice to see Simonetti's work recognized around the world ! as a french reader of fantasy, my mind is full of his amazing visions and illustrations, thanks to the many covers he created(the discworld for instance). I'm looking forward for this artbook !

I dig his stuff. Does he have material in The World of Ice and Fire?

Yes he does. You can look up some pretty cool "time lapse" drawings on youtube. And thanks George for telling us about this. I definitely threw some money at it, since Marc is one of my favorite artists.

Hi I just read that you write your stories on a DOS operating system running Wordstar.

couldn't resist...

I am Wordstar and I am of the night.

Also it all makes sense now. AFFC/ADWD took 11 years because your PC exploded from the Y2K bug.

This guy's great. He translates perfectly the mood we get when reading ASOIAF. And that's the least we can say of his works.

Btw, if you could please answer this, are we going to see new maps on TWOW? It would help us readers a lot if it came with a map of Meereen (and maybe TLOAW), due to what's happening in that city on the book.

The goal is already reached, but +40 in the bank for him ;)

I didn't know he was working on wild cards too, thanks for the news.

I'm wondering if he will be the one who will do the french cover of wild cards:/

Love Marc's work. He's gotten a lot of my hard earned money lately.

I bought a framed Kingsmoot print at the "Winter is Coming" exhibit.

Bought three more prints off his Deviant Art page "Looking for the Stark Children" Blacktyde Longship" and "Greyjoy's Castle" as well as the Seastone chair.

AND I funded the book project! Amazing work! Would love to see his take on Victarion.

heh, it seems it already got fully funded. I personally am not very familiar with his work but I HAVE seen some of the ASOIAF artwork, which is pure bliss.

Kickstarter projects seem to get more attention nowadays, especially when it's for someone who has proven to be good at what he/she does. Luckily for him, he has. But sadly, all is not well in publishing and producing of products who may not be very profitable, which scares new talent away and forces some (maybe like Simonetti) to crowdfunding. Kickstarter (partially) resolves this problem and allows talented people to potentially achieve their dreams.

Kickstarter even managed to enable funding for multi million dollar projects (most notable, star citizen, which has accumulated a whopping 42 million dollars), which leaves me with the question: is this the future?

Edit: not Kickstarter apparently, but still...

It's sad to see his covers disappearing in profit of pictures from the HBO show...

My country is chaos
Ahh! I want a copy of that book and one of "the world of ice and fire"
But none of these books comes to this country. And if they do, they're worth too much money. It's amazing what books are being worth in Argentina!

Indeed. As the top ranking administrator of the Game of Thrones wikia, I am very familiar with this fellow's artwork. Impressive to say the least. I only wish viewers and fans would stop linking to the charity work in the wikia as that is not the place.
