Leaving Los Angeles

I have been in LA all week, taping the introduction for the ROGUES audiobook, appearing on CONAN, taking meetings... and signing books.

Angelenos, take note.  If you are looking for an autographed copy of one of my books, you'll find large stacks of them for sale at the Bookstar in Studi City, the B&N superstores at Manhattan Beach and the Grove, and Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach.  Grab one while the supply lasts.

(Of course, for my friends in New Mexico here are signed copies always available at the Jean Cocteau Cinema, along with autographed books by Pat Conroy, Neil Gaiman, Michael Chabon, Junot Diaz, Melinda Snodgrass, Connie Willis, Anne Perry, Peter S. Beagle, S.M. Stirling, Diana Gabaldon, and many more.  And tomorrow we have SUSAN ORLEAN coming in, for our big Rin Tin Tin weekend).

I'll be flying home to Santa Fe in a few hours.

Do you miss being not-famous? I saw you on TMZ and you seemed understandably annoyed with the paparazzi guy. Do you wish you could go back 5 years or so and probably not be recognized walking down the street, able to answer individual emails, not have to answer who your favorite character is every day, not have to worry about the show rushing your writing? Or do you prefer the fame?

That TMZ guy seemed more annoying than TMZ guys usually are. He clearly didn't know all that much about George and asked questions that George has answered a thousand times over the last couple years (how anyone who has ever done even a quick Google search about him doesn't know that his favorite character is Tyrion is beyond me). And then he was like "I haven't read the books yet."

I honestly don't understand why all these reviewers and interviewers who don't read the books care when George finishes them. What does it matter to them? It's only those of us who read the books that it will have a negative affect on in any way.

WordStar 4.0!
WordStar 4.0 will be back big time!

They should hire you for TV ads... Maybe even Microsoft makes software again without annoying features. Windows 8 is killing me, by the way. Those damn tiles, hate them!

Is it possible to get an autographed copy of any of your books near to NYC? Or can I buy it on Internet?

Hope you had a pleasant, hassle free flight home. I've just 'pushed the boat out' and 'flung another pea in the pot' and ordered a Subterranean Press copy of your Rogues Anthology, still to be printed. I was sold on the artwork involved, (not that the thought of the unpublished stories didn't sell it too). Well, if I don't treat myself around here, no-one else will and we're a long time dead, George, we're a long time dead.

Book signings at LonCon3
Speaking of book signings, do you know if/when you'll be doing a signing at LonCon3? I can only make the second half of the con, and I'm wondering what your schedule is going to look like. Thanks! (And sorry for sort of high-jacking the thread.)

International Request
Is there any way to ship some of those signed editions to Ireland? I'd be willing to pre-pay all costs in advance. I would love a signed Ice and Fire book from you and The Last Unicorn from Mr Beagle if they were available.

Conan bromance
You have great rapport with Conan. Love seeing you on there. Even though he screwed up the name of the books... silly Conan!

Ser Pounce of House Whiskers, First of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. It is known.

Your Conan appearances are always highly entertaining. Hope you had fun and had a safe flight home! :)

Dijon? In France?
Hi Mr.Martin,
There is a rumor going on about you coming to France (in Dijon? the great city of the mustard) during the summer, and since I live near Dijon I was wondering if it was okay to ask you if it is true or not...Or maybe it's too early to ask? Sorry if it is!!
Thank you and have a great week!
